Nice. Romeo Crennel is also a coach at the Shrine Bowl. Sparano is burning the midnight oil already, throw in they have complete access to the South Squad, man things are lining up nicely for the Dolphins this offseason.
How did we get to coach the Senior Bowl? I thought it goes by whichever team has the worst record... Your telling me that between picks 1-11 only the Lions wanted to coach the Senior Bowl? Either way I am really excited that we get to coach it, you can learn a lot from coaching players there.
The Tunafather called in a favor from his associates? Sparano as a rule films everything, from practices in the spring to the typical scouting film, this will give them a heck of an opportunity to form opinions on players. And Crennel was hanging out with Parcells this past spring during OTA's, so if he is still unemployed he would be a great sounding board on a player like Greg Hardy.
Here is the projected roster, there are players who will be added along with dividing into the North and South squads: RUNNING BACKS Anthony Dixon - Mississippi State Montario Hardesty - Tennessee Ben Tate - Auburn Charles Scott - LSU (may not play due to broken collarbone) Dexter McCluster - Ole Miss Stafon Johnson - USC WIDE RECEIVERS Brandon LaFell - LSU Jeremy Williams - Tulane Shay Hodge - Ole Miss Danario Alexander - Missouri TIGHT ENDS Colin Peek - Alabama Anthony McCoy - USC Jimmy Graham - Miami (FL) OFFENSIVE TACKLES Ciron Black - LSU Sam Young - Notre Dame Charles Brown - USC GUARDS Mike Johnson - Alabama John Jerry - Ole Miss CENTERS Eric Olsen - Notre Dame DEFENSIVE TACKLES Dan Williams - Tennessee Terrence Cody - Alabama Tyson Alualu - California DEFENSIVE ENDS Brandon Graham - Michigan Antonio Coleman - Auburn George Selvie - South Florida Jerry Hughes - TCU Brandon Lang - Troy Cameron Sheffield - Troy LINEBACKERS Eric Norwood - South Carolina Dekoda Watson - Florida State Daryl Washington - TCU Sean Weatherspoon - Missouri Darryl Sharpton - Miami (FL) CORNERBACKS Javier Arenas - Alabama Jerome Murphy - South Florida Patrick Robinson - Florida State Kyle Wilson - Boise State Syd'Quan Thompson - California SAFETIES Harry Coleman - LSU Kyle McCarthy - Notre Dame Nate Allen - South Florida Taylor Mays - USC KICKERS Leigh Tiffin - Alabama PUNTERS Zoltan Mesko - Michigan
http://nflnext.blogspot.com/search/label/2010%20Senior%20Bowl Few intriguing prospects Miami most likely will be coaching: Anthony Dixon, Brandon Lafell, Shay Hodge, Jimmy Graham, Dan Williams, Terrence Cody, Jerry Hughes, Brandon Spikes, Nate Allen
Per Edgar: "do not have staff in place"? None of them have fired their coaches yet, maybe they plan to and couldn't accept the invite?
True that, and they just hired a GM, however that leaves what, 4 teams that were ahead of us including the Jags who do not figure to fire Del Rio. They would have to pay him 13 million if they did fire him.
However it happened is fine by me - gotta take breaks any time you can get them. And this seems like a HUGE break for Miami given the number of holes we still have to fill.
seriously, we have a real chance to get 2 excellent linebackers, maybe 3, just depends on crazy we wanna get, build that damn unit in one draft lol.
Couldn't have said it better myself. We definitely need to come away from the draft and free agency with 3-5 new LBs IMO.
Three of the players you didn't list are three guys who I think the staff either will end up liking a lot, or already does. TE, Colin Peek WR, Brandon LaFell RB, Ben Tate
there are many more that I didnt list. Anyone could emerge. I just listed the ones I thought would impress the most. I'm not a LaFell fan. I see the athleticism but I just dont see him being great. Could be wrong I acknowledge but I cant like everybody lol. Peek I could see but I'm not sure he's an upgrade over Fasano. Also Nalbone just finished a year of weight training and technique work. He may never amount to anything but if they were right about him being a project he should be much improved in 2010
I like Colin Peek. He didn't show a whole lot in the National Title Game, but he was great in the SEC Title game. Sneaky good speed/receving abilities. Wouldn't mind him or either of the other two in aqua and orange next year.
I'm not sure he's not either, but if he were just equal to Fasano that wouldn't be the worst thing. Two "top of the line" run blocking TEs who are capable of catching 35-40 passes for like 400+ yards a year would be pretty good. Sure neither might ever be an all-pro, but you could do a lot worse than two Fasano's (or even one, I mean just look at Haynos vs Fasano). And just because some of us on the board might not be LaFell fans doesn't mean the staff doesn't like him or that they won't end up liking him. He's big, fast, talented enough to be a very good #1, was very productive for multiple years, stayed to his senior year so he played a lot, and he's a willing run blocker. While at LSU he had at least 2 catches in 40 straight games, and at least 1 catch in 41 straight games, was #2 in career TD rec (25, 1 behind Bowe), #3 in rec (175), and #5 in yds (2,517). Like I said, plenty of people here might not like him, but that doesn't mean the FO won't.
i certainly dont disagree with you. Lafell and Taylor Mays are two players that generally have alot of negativity associated with their games butmight blossom into great pros if given the right opportunity. I agree that he could impress greatly. Its simply like I said, I cant like everybody....I'm from New York for Gods sake. It goes against my very nature to like everybody
I would like us to get LaFell (not only because I think he can be very good), but because I could get some kick *** memorabilia of his around here.
Graham would be a North squad member in all likelihood. So the fins would really only see him in the game, they wouldn't coach him.
duh yeah you're right stich I just got excited when I saw that our coaches would be coaching and that B. Graham would be at the Senior Bowl
IIRC wasn't this from his video from the Senior Bowl in 2008? But I do remember how he said he liked LSU and 'Bama, though we've yet to draft a player from either school.
I think it was that video, can't remember exactly. I think they may have liked Tyson Jackson but never had a shot at him.
Well, keep in mind that this is not a "game' per se, these coaches are going to gossip about whichever players they have to coach. Anyone think Sparano pulls out the Wildcat?
