I'm still going to go the route of draft Tyler Linderbaum at 0C. Trade up from pick 50 and get Kenneth Walker III. May even be able to trade up from 99 and get a Majai Sanders somewhere in the 70 range... it's all very doable. Build through the draft, because those players pay dividends for a decade, or more! I'm defined not against free agents, don't get me wrong, but patchwork helps most times, for a few years...

You want a perennial powerhouse, like I do, the first three rounds of the draft is where the money is at. Why Grier is a miserable and utterly failure... we had three shots at Jonathan Taylor... ya, that RB that Indy has....

except they don’t we have traded away more talent in the last 7-10 years then we have kept!

draft is always risky if your cap healthy let’s get some key players we know are studs and fix this thing

Draft prospects aren't risky. IF the GM knows how to evaluate the talent... there in lies the problem, Grier flat out sucks at it. I get your disappointment, I really do. I am too. I watch the players we pass on year after year, hit other clubs and tear it up. This whole year, I'd watch Indy and be like "yup, we didn't need that in Miami" as Jonathan Taylor lit it up...

Absolutely livid over not getting Taylor...

I'm not against FA's, just don't see paying for other teams coaching a player up. W4 should be doing our own growth coaching!!! Why it's important on those 4th and 5th rounders... those are our future lower cost options...

Wow.. I think we did relatively well here. Who knows how he turns out but this is a decent gamble. Also shows HC candidates aren't turning away from Ross and the Dolphins just because of Flores' accusations.

Well, Tua really has no excuse now. Next year should be the last year to see if he can perform as a franchise QB. If not we got picks in 2023 to try to solve that eternal (i.e., 25 year) problem at QB.

I've been watching this board for years. Finally decided to register. And with my first post, let me say, I am so excited that we hired McDaniel! Cannot wait to see his tenure in Miami unfold!

Well, congrats to the only guy willing to take this job!

welcome coach! Sure hope you can fix this mess and survive Chris Grier and Stephen Ross.

hope all this talk on this guy is true. We need it. Be so nice if we hit the jackpot here.

This is a fantastic day for the Phins' family!!!!!

I seriously think that this is a home run. I eagerly await to see his staff. I am on cloud nine right now.

I think a really good coach will overcome a bad owner and GM (similar to an elite QB overcoming bad surrounding cast), especially since the HC has a lot of power. Hard to make excuses as HC. I guess in some sense Ross and Grier provide a great test of how good the coach is lol.

Anyway, very happy for the hire. Looks like most Dolfans agree (so far).

It would have been entertaining to see how coaches like Rex Ryan, more boisterous, typical football looking coaches would have reacted and interacted with McDaniel looking like a nerd.

He was last on my list of acceptable hires, but acceptable nonetheless.

I would have preferred a proven coach who gets Grier out of the way, but I sure hope McDaniels can make it work even when Grier inevitably ****s up the personnel decisions.

He kind of reminds me of the actor Walton Coggins. I don't know why, but it's there. I bet he's got a great sense of humor. I'm happy with the hire. Finally something we can all agree on for a change.

Cautious optimism with this move. Harbaugh would have brought in a veteran, proven staff and probably taken all the real power Grier has. He also would have burned out the team/himself in 3-4 years, but it would have been an exciting run.

McDaniel will need a couple years to set things up for his offense, but he is starting with a more complete team (at least on defense) compared to what was on the field in 2019. If Tua struggles, we need to move on in 2023, use the first rounders to move up if needed and draft another QB. For the record, there is little value in bringing in Jimmy G as we've seen his ceiling with the 49ers.

What happened was a QB who failed to identify certain reads in critical moments, Shanny getting a little cute with certain calls and a dropped int from the defense that would have changed the entire complexity of the 4th quarter.

And we are miles away from having one of the best O-Lines. It's Trent Williams and a bunch of nothing. Mack played better as the season worn on but he was horrible the first half of the year. We started Tom Compton@RT for half the year...that should tell you all you need to know. Both the Lambs and Packers lived in our backfield on obvious passing situations.

McDaniel doesn't call plays so how anyone can lay blame to him is just odd but whatever...

What I can tell you is that McDaniel had a heavy hand in our run game design and implantation. From how they started utilizing Deebo because a bunch of our RBs were banged up in 2020, to some schematic designs that borrowed from the college spread...the brain child to those ideas was McDaniel.

I have no clue how he'll do as a HC. Really depends on the staff he can put together. But he's been Shanny's right hand man for 15 years. He's extremely intelligent and is awkwardly funny. His pressers can be hilarious at times. The one thing I wouldn't be worried about is your offense and how they will do. He'll be just fine once the ball get's rolling. Most Niner fans knew it was just a matter of time for Mike so its not too surprising. Wish him well, just not against us.
