Mic Stands and Mic Attachment

2k5Forum VeteranOPDoes anyone know how mics are attached to mic stands? I'm thinking about getting a stand so I don't have to use my guitar stand to hold my mic for recording, but I want to know if I have to get anything else with it. Here's the stand:

2k5Forum VeteranI posted about it on UG and it looks like I'll need a shock mount. I don't think a mic clip is big enough for my mic. (Rode NT1-A)

get a shure sm-57 and shure sm-58 they're pricey but worth it.

sm58 = win.
To clarify... You should use the 57 more for instrumentals, the 58 for vocals. Where I go to school, we use the 58 and 63 for a lot of our productions (interviews and such)... but if you're using the mic for guitar... might be best to get the 57 if you're deciding between the two.

The Rode NT1-A is one of the best condenser mics around. Pretty much considered the best for it's price range, and I got it on eBay for about $100 off. :up:

It was pretty much between the shure sm58 and this one back when I bought my mic, but I opted for this one. Never tried the shure, but it's definitely a great mic as well.
