I think we need to make this guy a Dolphins he is going to be a monster ILB trade down in the first round Draft Jerry Hughes collect a couple 2 round picks and Draft this guy that way we have 2 really good young players at LB's. get a WR in FA and we could have a very good defense if we get the right peices and Micah Johnson and Jerry hughes are perfect people to build out defense around we already have two very good yound CB's. 2008 College highlights http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/catsfan/uploaded_images/FBCJohnson080508-778772.jpg
he is a Senior so if he isnt going to go to the draft this year is going to be taking a year off of football and that is really going to hurt his draft satus
Here is the thread: http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=42790 And here is what happened to Seniore Johnson: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=65555&draftyear=2010&genpos=ILB Well that sucks.
maybe with the injury we might be able to get him in the 3rd round but the guy has first round talent
ok Take Brandon Graham and Micah Johnson because Spikes is going to be a late First early second round pick
I respectfully disagree. IMO, he lacks instincts in the pass game and is a downhill linebacker only. He struggled with his assignments in Kentucky's base Cover 2 Man defense. IMO, you're not a first round linebacker when you can't cover.
I agree with you on coverage. He's lost when he has to drop. However, this guy is a thumper in the run game. There aren't many linebackers that can take on blocks the way this guy does, and he has a nose for the football in the run game.
I agree, he's a downhill linebacker and moves pretty well laterally. IMO, he's not worthy of a first.
He reminded me a bit of Pepper Johnson. But with a bad knee, with an injury, even if it is a MCL he just won't be taken in the early rounds, the NFL player acquisition process rarely allows for a team to spend a early pick on a guy who isn't 100% healthy. Imho he want from a late second round/mid third round pick to a 4th or 5th round pick.
Im not saying he is going in the first round or should because of his injurys but i think he has all the tools and skills. i feel like he has the right skills and talent to be a first round pick though
I don't know how anyone would confuse Johnson, a 2 down LB who can't get outside, as a first round pick.
Depends on the style of defense we play. The only way we could get away with having him and two OLBs that aren't great in coverage is to have your safeties play man on your TEs with no safety support on the CBs. Somebody in your LB core has to be able to cover.
Seriously though, he's a good, hard working type who has versatility, moves well and is a leader. He's also proven to be a very good tackler during his time at PSU. One of my wife's friends has a nephew at Penn State and he says that Sean is the unquestioned leader of that locker room. Injuries would be the big concern for me.
I think that he's the sure tackling, smart, instinctive, good coverage ILB that we need. I've seen enough of Torbor and Ayodele- not worth $3 mil a piece. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere and get Lee and another ILB in the draft or FA. Torbor has very little instincts imo and Ayodele is an average at best run support ILB and can't cover worth a crap.
That' is nuts. If we can't get McClain, and i don't think we will... i 'd like to see us draft Darly Washington. He could be a cover " 3rd down ILB " from day one, and after a year or two if he put's on some more pounds he could be a every down ILB. Like Jim1 said about Torbor and Ayodele we can't go into this year with them, ether one of them trying to cover or playing on passing downs, just to painful to watch as a fan.
