Bjoern Werner is a guy that I've seen on film actually rush the passer better and more efficiently from right defensive end than from left. That's important. Any time I've talked about Miami drafting Bjoern I have made it a point to make that clear.

    Haha, that makes more sense.

We'll see. That's a possibility. I'll be behind whatever Miami does whether it's Bennett or Abraham.

I love Werner but Bennett only costs us cap space. Plus free up the 12th pick to take a player at CB, OL, TE or WR. Plus what happens if Werner does not make it to the 12th pick? If we can add Bennett? I hope Ireland pulls the trigger on the deal.

Keep Odrick and rotate him. Starks and Soliai are both free agents in 2014.

I don't know why this became all about Werner all the sudden as if I'm saying Werner or bust. Not the case at all. First off you could take Carradine at 12 and I'd be just as happy. Second, you could get other guys later, like Washington or Taylor. And in the mean time, low priced veteran to serve as pass rush specialist.

And the thing about Mike Sherman...he coached Bennett for like one year, many years ago, and Sherman was an offensive guy. How much valid input is he REALLY going to have here? I think Kevin Coyle's opinion is going to matter more. And he's going to look at the tape and either see a guy that can move to the right side...or not.

But as for Bennett's visiting...I'm not positive we should read much into it. If they sign him we know how Coyle came out on the film watching. But if not it could've just been Sherman doing a solid for one of his own, pumping up his interest.

What happened with Barnes? Bennett looks to have had his only decent year in his contract year no? I'm not one of the members constantly losing sleep over money that isn't even theirs BUT I hope we get 1 of these guys for a value. CK and his analysis of him being a better LDE has me a bit worried too.

Best De available some said ? I'm getting impatient though with all this work on the front 7 when we should have signed a Db/TE/OL already.

Either way all this martellus Bennett talk is confusing guys. I watch every giants game, had him on my fantasy team, etc. Nice player who got thrust into the right situation. Showed flashes of being Antonio gates-like. Terribly inconsistent, benefitted from their loss of manningham and injuries to nicks/ Cruz. Not a big money player and certainly not better than cook or Keller.

I don't think the left side/right side thing is a huge concern for Michael Bennett. Wake is more of an exception than the rule, and while it's certainly something to be wary of it's hard to compare Bennett with a single year of prominent play. If you're using PRP and like the player, you should probably be using it for the year he's been successful, and in that case he's been pretty reasonably close. PFF has him at 9.9 on their PRP metric on the right side and 8.6 on the left this year. There's a drop-off, but it's still quite good production and I don't see how you can say it's all that significant.

You can't really apply positional stereotypes either. The Dolphins right defensive end position plays more like what's normal from a left side end traditionally is. He's suddenly not going to be asked to be a 9-technique guy sprinting around end, it's a lot like he does now.

Yeah. We don't need an every down DE (with Odrick) we only need a nickel pass rusher like Abraham (or even Freeney). I think those would come cheaper, be a good stop-gap for 1-2 seasons and allow us to look for a young explosive DE in the next two years.

I don't get that strategy they are trying. I like the idea of this kid (I think he'll be a better option at DE than Odrick in passing situations) but don't see a long term deal which might be more expensive than the older guys because of his youth as being a great option.

Feel like soliai will walk unless he wants to take another team friendly deal.

Why upgrade Dansby and Burnett, if your not going to upgrade the weak link of the front 7, Odrick?

Have to wonder if playing opposite a man with 2 different sized arms had anything to do with side selection

Bennett is the guy I have kept saying that we hope we get. He's fast and quick enough to play 4-3 DE and he has a good motor. He moves inside to DT in nickel situations like Odrick did. He's a better pass rusher than Odrick and I don't think he wil have any issues moving to the right side.

If Bennett is signed I can see Starks or Odrick getting traded for a pick.

He is a Seahawk, however why? Teams need three good defensive linemen. ESPECIALLY teams that run a 4-3 defense.

Was a four horse race. Originally on the Seahawks and they got rid of him early and then went to Tampa. He was set to visit DET after us and would have given TB the option to match.

There's Wake, Soliai, Starks, Odrick and Vernon. If one more DE is signed or picked in the draft we can afford to lose one. Odricks pass rush needs improving and if he loses weight to gain quickness then thats fine. If not, I imagine Coyle wanting a rusher at RDE. In that case Odrick can move to DT.

Soliai and Starks are DT. Odrick is a DE who can move to DT. He is pretty good at pass rushing from pass rushing from the inside. It doesn't really make sense to trade him unless they bring another DT in.

WTF...only 5 mil? what the hell were we offering? If we rely on Odrick to help Wake pressure the QB again I'm gonna lose my mind. we still have nothing at corner, Jake Long might walk and since he's really the only legit LT out there that means we'll have Jon Martin's weakling *** protecting Tannehill's blindside... man the honeymoon period is over for Ireland, I'm getting irritated with him again.

The FA we got so far we overpaid for. It has been said that sitting in a room with Ireland, Philbin and Sherman is the same as sitting in a freezer with no jacket watching paint dry on the wall, thats how. Bet if we offered Bennet 3 years 20 million he would be a fin. He then could afford to ignore the three mentioned above as they still sit in the meat locker with personalitys of a rock.

I think Miami wants to move Odrick to DT for the regular 4-3 and have two pass rush DE. That's probably why they are not going after the older vets for just a 3rd down DE. But, I would do that anyway.

If they weren't going for a long-term deal on Bennett, then they need to go after Abraham or Freeney or Umenyiora.

I would much rather do that than use a high draft pick on one in this draft. Load up on DE's next year and shift Odrick inside.

They are losing out on guys right and left, however, so it seems they may have spent too much on the first three and are trying to low ball the others.

Back to standard operating procedure for Ireland?

    We'll have to see ...
