I don't much about evaluating OL but this guy looks really quick and athletic. I'm sure he needs loads of work on his technique and of course, he will learning a new position. He had an outstanding pro day...http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-state-prospects-could-be-rookie-free-agents Highlights here..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iZW-OGbcyM Anybody with ability to grade OL see anything in these highlights???
Interview after losing to the NDSU Mighty Bison in the FCS championship game...http://www.thewoodstockindependent.com/December-2014/WHS-grad-wants-more-football/ Can't help but to root for this kid.
Well, from what I can see, at his level of competition he was every bit as good as Ali Marpet was at his even lower level of competition. Marpet became draftable by getting invited to the Senior Bowl and Combine. IMO, Liedtke has a legit gripe that he did not get the same chance. His Pro Day was not much different than Marpet's Combine. Their size is very similar too. I forgot about this kid....He could very well be in play at LG along with Douglas...I think he is good enough to earn a roster spot over some that are now on the roster..especially he is another versatile OL.
Kind of looks to me like a shorter version of Lydon Murtha. Completely depends on his leg drive to be an effective blocker. No punch. Has the wingspan and arm length to be effective with his hands and frame but doesn't manage it really at all, which is where he reminds me of Murtha as you combine that with the athleticism. Ali Marpet was a much better small school prospect, IMO. I think this guy would have trouble dealing with the increased size and strength of NFL defensive ends, if he were staying at offensive tackle. If he's moving inside to guard he's not only dealing with a big increase from FCS caliber to NFL caliber, but also dealing with guys that will be 60 to 100 lbs heavier than he's used to while still being explosive. That makes it even worse. He got rocked back quite a bit by 230-240 lbs FCS players. This is a coaching job. Can you get him using his hands better and showing better anchor?
