According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, they banned a bunch of people who illegally modded and pirated games on XBL.

I haven't been on XBL today, so I don't know if I'm banned or not. I'd like to thank those of you dumb enough to send me a msg on XBL calling me a modder or hacker though. That's very cool. :pity:

not gonna use names, but some people (on this board), sent me messages asking questions about modding their 360, and calling me a "lucky bastard for modding my 360".

    Not joking... VIA XBL!

Did you send them messages back saying you had no idea what they were talking about or who they were?

< Boots up his 360 to ask Mor if the latest Microsoft Banhammer got him and if not how the hell did he avoid it? Since he never pays for games?

If I'm banned, I'll have a new 360's guts swapped out and modded before the weekend is up.

Wouldn't they just ban that one as well?

Edit- How are they detecting the mods?

usually they ban in waves... Meaning, they spent the last 5 months compiling a list, then ban all of the people on said list. Then they forget about it for a while.

They didn't let me back in, I swapped my 360 and remodded it. That was almost 2 years ago... Actually, it was when Crackdown was released. When was that?

I know it came out before halo 3 because crackdown came with a H3 Beta invite so yeah, probably somewhere around 2 years or a little less.

i asked you about here, but never on XBL.

Maybe those people wouldn't have asked if you didn't send them invites to play Gears 2 three weeks before it was released!

I was wondering if the new NXE was gonna have something to detect nodded machines or flashed drives.

I was looking into it to mod mine myself and came across a certain website that I'm sure you frequent. They had people already downloading and installing some versions of NXE. I browsed their forums but nobody knew for sure what the new update will/or might catch. So I put off my plans to do mine until after the update to see how it affected modeets. Looks like I might have made a lucky decision to proceastinate for once.

From doing a little research, I think the bans are happening to people who play games on LIVE that "haven't been officially released". This is an early observation and I could be wrong but that seems to be the word.

I always wondered if Microsoft cracked down on that. I have kids come into gamestop all day asking me to sell them a game thats not coming out until a week later. If your persistent enough in looking im sure you can find some store (be it a Wal-mart or a different gamestop) that will sell it early. I always wondered if there were any penalty to those who did that.
