Well isnt this interesting... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-tejada-wrongage&prov=ap&type=lgns
I think this is very popular with athletes from overseas. Watch the Little League World Series, some of those kids are a few years older than they say they are.
Speaking of, whatever happened to that pitcher that completely dominated in the LLWS and they found out he was too old?
I just watched this interview a little while ago, it seemed really nasty. They actually went to his home country and dug up a copy of his 'real' birth certificate then ambushed him with it, seemed really low class to do it like that. Its not really a huge issue its not like he's secretly 40. Baseball players can play well into their late thirties so I don't think its that big of a deal.
It's a good thing he's playing well because since he got traded it's come out that he's older than he said he was and he was in the Mitchell Report, if he was hitting .150 he'd be getting crucified by the Houston fans.
Another entry on the long list of "sports stories I really don't care about." Big deal. If the teams didn't know he was lying in the first place, they're idiots.
I think you're talking about Danny Almonte from NY. Last I heard he was in high school now and is a very average pitcher. I definitely remember rooting for the kid during that Little League WS, he was flat out dominate.
I agree, I saw the interview too, they definately set him up and ambushed him with it. I wasnt a fan of that. I dont see why ESPN would have made as big of a deal as they did though... like its only 2 years... he's still playing at a high level... I don't blame him for walking out of the interview
