Dont have a link..on phone..Mike Florio is reporting minority candidate was interviewed by Ross while in San Fran... Saw this over at finheaven...so props to the OP over there
Its funny how quickly Florio has gone from a hack to an insider. It wasn't long ago that anything from PFT was dismissed. Guess NBC money and connections can change a lot.
Henning is gone, but until Sparano is fired, there cannot be a Rooney Rule interview..the point was to fill vacant Coaching positions.
Florio was always pretty good. If anything, he’s gotten lazy since joining NBC. He doesn’t even do most of the writing anymore, and most articles are simply regurgitations of stories written by beat writers for the various 32 teams. Once in a while he’ll chime in with an opinion piece, but apparently his most important PFT-related duty these days is appearing for a few boring minutes on Sunday Night Football. Still, PFT has use as a sort of aggregator of information.
apparently that is incorrect padre. Rooney Rule doesn't preclude you from interviewing a minority even if you have a HC spot filled.
Aye, last night in the wee morning I mentioned from a source that their second task was to interview Hue Jackson due to Bowles being courted by Dallas.
We can still interview Bowles and satisfy the Rooney Rule requirement. Speaking of Bowles and Dallas, were I Ross, I’d request the league office to clarify what constitutes a promotion. Bowles’ official title is Assistant Head Coach/Secondary. The Cowboys want him to be their defensive coordinator. I don’t see how he could accept that job unless we fire him, because defensive coordinator is supposed to be inferior to assistant head coach.
Hahahahaha great point Desides!!! I thought the same this morning when I was looking at Bowles title as I could have sworn he was also an Asst. Head Coach. Interesting threshold point to consider.
holy ****... if we have to give up our first rounder as penalty for not fulfilling the Rooney rule, we could end up with Cowboys' first rounder instead? what are they picking 3rd or 4th?
he couldn't. All coordinator jobs are considered the same. So while Bowles is under contract he can only accept a head coaching position.
How is it dumb? Ireland is doing exactly what Florio said he's doing. BTW, I still can't believe we chose Ireland over Cowher.
More and more we are starting to look like the Yankees and more recently the Heat. We need only tie up this deal and succeed to perform the full transformation.
The whole Sparano status mystery bears a lot of semblance to the Sopranos ending. Is he gone, did he make it?
Just make sure he has directions to the closest Chinese Buffet near the Davie facility and I am sure he is here !!!
I have idea how his interview went, or even if he was interviewed, but I could deal with this. We want an offensive coach, Jackson could be it.
This is all misdirection. They're bringing in Cowher... They already took Ireland out fishing to the Keys, and Sparano went looking for the Florida Skunk Ape.
