How does inconsistency equate to not being able to catch?

Dwayne Bowe could always catch well, but was inconsistent. he had corrective eye surgery, and bam, the consistencies began to disappear. His ability to catch didn't get better.

 

I mean if Ginn dropped 50% of his balls, I'd say he couldn't catch.

But if you drops in practice look like 0/4, 1/5, 3/4, 0/5, 2/5, 1/5, 0/3, 1/4, that is inconsistent. Why isn't every day one drop or less?

(I made up those numbers by the way just to illustrate what I meant)

I don't know Lombardi or anything about him and he has every right to his opinion just like we all do. Lombardi certainly has the pedigree to know more than any of us on this site as Boomer said, but that also applies to Parcells, Sparano, Ireland and a lot of other people in the NFL.
I still feel good about Ginn although I wasn't excited by his being drafted 1st. IMO his growth as a wide receiver has been stunted by the fact that we haven't had a real quarterback since he has been here. Now that we have Pennington and a promising rookie to get him the ball maybe he will come into his own. If not then he will be another failed experiment among many attributed to this franchise, but lets hope not.
