Just saw on NFL Network Josh McDaniels got rid of Mike Nolan. What do you think the chances are we scoop him up?
Found a link on Jay Glazer's twitter:
"i am reporting another shocker, mike nolan and josh mcdaniels have decided to "mutually part ways" in denver"
http://twitter.com/Jay_Glazer
Man this would be awesome, can't believe it.

could very well be on the short list
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Glazer-Denver-Broncos-Mike-Nolan-parting-ways-011810
the Broncos have always worked the 3-4 w/ great success
from the old days of the Orange Crush right up until Nolan
just might be a match -
I would truly be ecstatic if we grabbed Nolan. Only link I see to Parcells or Sparano though is that he was a DC for Al Groh.

uh..
they had a completely veteran secondary and went from 6-0 to missing the playoffs. part of that was on offense, but part of that was on defense. i don't know if i want someone who can't get it done on D with vets to having someone coaching up our (near) rookies..sking29 likes this. -
I thought he did a pretty good job considering what he was working with. Alot of those players had no business playing in a 3-4.

the FrontOffice knows & we will find out after the fact
somehow, I can't conceive of them firing
our Defensive Coordinator for incompetence
without having already selected his replacement
if this is the guy, the deal was in the works a while ago
only the FrontOffice has the inside information
Nolan looks good from what I can read
they will upgrade the position not settle for mediocrity -
-
They didn't play a traditional 3-4. It was almost a 5-2 with how heavily they used their OLBs as DEs. We're a team that could benefit from such an alignment as well. It just requires two exceptional ILBs that can cover.

josh mcdaniels is an idiot for firing him. -
Love Vonnie but IMO we really missed Hill and Goody the most. :knucks: Hell even Henne had praise for Vonnie after the season =)
Here is a great quote from that article.

Denver was good, they finished 7th overall defense, 3rd in passing D with a couple of our castoffs, something we were never able to achieve with them. Run D was a little suspect but you have to wonder if that was mostly due to McDaniels mettling, the guy is a control freak and i'm sure that's the main reason for Nolan leaving. Nolans always been a difference maker as a DC. I really hope he ends up here rather than with the Pats or the Bills.

Miami should jump alllll over this...
-
The reason their run defense was so appalling is that their 3-4 linemen are garbage. They simply cannot hold up against the run. D.J. Williams was fried behind them. Dumervil cannot set the edge in run defense. Wake easily can beat Dumervil at that capability.

Can't see him being a DC for Buffalo, but they can't get anyone to want to be their HC so maybe they go after him as HC. I think he and Tony could work great together. Josh McDaniels is a little hitler...

-
A. get him in miami cause hes a very good DC
B. get him in miami so he doesnt go to New England -
for all those who posted in the keith butler thread saying the sky aint falling and we will wait and be patient with trying to get a DC
look what has happenend now, Nolan is fired and we are planning on interviewing him already LOLSICK likes this. -
Yea I don't think he would go to Buffalo either over us or NE that is problem though he might go to NE over us LOL Got to admire the FO they are really on top of it the guy is let go and within the hour Miami is already trying to setup an interview, this is looking really promising.

Nolan used the most appropiate system
for the talent he had @ hand
like any experienced, talented DC would
however, he did use the 3-4 & knows it well
Denver has always employed the system
w/ great success from the time of Collier
the Broncos' used 3-4 defense in the late 1970s,
(the Orange Crush Defense) to the present -
-
lets just hire him now, forget the interview :P lol
-
maybe they already did this a while ago & this is the going through the motions part

He's an established DC who has been around and has experience. That and he's a disciplinarian. He won't take kindly to giving up 27 points in 18 minutes in a must win. He'll get the players to play hard and with heart IMO.SICK likes this. -
I threw together is defenses ranks. Both overall Rank and Points allowed for your viewing pleasure.
Note: 2001 the Wiki page shows him as the Ravens Wide receivers coach. Can anyone verify that as it seems out of the ordinary for him.

In all seriousness, I would LOVE Nolan to come in and take over helm of our defense.
Get him three upper tier linebackers along with what we already have and I think we would be in very very good shape.Xeticus likes this. -
I've got some good news to add. Dansby and the Cardinals aren't talking about a contract. He is the perfect ILB for the Nolan 3-4 Mike position.

It would be nice not to be out-coached on defense for once.
-
If you go back to my previous post, he is the first of the three top-tier linebackers.
As much as I LOVE Dez Bryant, our first pick would then turn into Ro McClain, Jerry Hughes or the Safety from the Longhorns (Brain fart right now) and POOF, defense fixed :up:Frumundah Finnatic and SICK like this. -
