OMG, Warren Sapp is such an idiot! Ravens lose Kruger and Boldin… getting ready to lose Reed and sign their QB to a huge contract and he LOVES what they are doing. Fins sing one player to a big contract and he hates what they have done… one hour and 20 minutes into FA… lol
His college number was 2. He couldn't use 2 being a WR, and 12 is retired. Honestly I'd think it would be cool if he wore 42. Hartline is 82. Just trying to think of a number ending in 2. A lot of top WRs wear 11. Maybe he could take that number.
And that's worth $13 million a year? We could have kept that money, drafted Marcus Wheaton in the 3rd round, and gotten the same thing.
You're right. It's Jeff Ireland and Joe Philbin's problem if they cannot see the mountains of evidence that you've been so kind to share with us over the past few weeks. What is your problem is that you cant see the forest for the trees.
As in how? Please explain to me from an x's and o's, schematic standpoint, why it is better to sign someone that has a limited route tree over someone that doesn't have a limited route tree? Also, tell me what skill Mike Wallace has to fall on when his speed leaves him?
Guys I'm getting really tired of deleting all the snarky replies and snide remarks. Please keep your commentary on the topic of the post and not the posters themsleves.
That mantra is tired and worn out. It has already been proven by the videos posted on this very forum showing everyone of Wallace's catches in 2012 that he can do much more than vertical stretches.
in the last 3 years all the phins WRs account for 23 touchdowns total in the last 3 years Mike Wallace had 26 by himself . Fire ireland
KB, quit it with the negativity man. You don't like this contract, noted. Enough. Only time will tell if it will be good, ok, or bad. Just go with it.
Like it or not, he's stuck to his guns on not liking Wallace....now that its done, he'll be hard to live with....that said, makes this forum interesting...
The thing about Mike Wallace is, if we were trying to work with Clyde Gates, we can make Mike Wallace work.
No to Bush, No to Long and on board with Cook Would rather Sam Baker to play OT and draft a RB to backup Miller (who I think is going to be a star)…. Fins really need to upgrade the OL
kept the money and what with it? We can still draft Wheaton, or Swope , or any other WR and I think that would be a great idea too...Then two or three years from now, when Wallace's contract becomes a huge behemouth, we can cut him and replace him from within...but winning now, Wheaton in the third, doesn't offer the same hope.
Flipping burgers, but that is not our issue when his speed leaves. That is why it's probably only a 5 year deal. Relax some, let it play out, you might be surprised. If he fails it basically ends Irelands job in Miami.
Im indifferent about long, kind of want him to stay. Reggie can go. I honestly don't know ANYTHING about Cook. Won't pretend like I do. I do know i'm pretty upset about Fasano.
Wallace is only 26. By the time his speed leaves him... we'll be parting ways with him (assuming he has no skill to fall back on at that point).
It is just being close minded that is all. He sees football a certain way and his mind cant get wrapped around the fact that there is more then one way to do things..
Mine wasn't snarky nor snide BTW. Just to clear the air. It was light humored just like many of us who get along joke around.
That's a lot of money for a guy who is really really good at running extremely fast in a straight line and not a lot else.
This contract will likely be one where the team takes a major hit on the cap when they try to cut him, so this isn't just a situation where they can just get rid of him in a couple of years with no financial fall out.
For the first time in a long time, kudos to Ireland. He got it done. Yeah, it was a little expensive, but in for a penny in for a pound. Excited to see what else we do.
His 8.0 yard per target average over his last 29 games suggests that his speed isn't worth what we are paying him to begin with.
