Looking back at the last two games, the Panthers and Jets, and considering Mike Wallace's performance
Correct me if I'm wrong here, doesn't he have a 30 yd td reception and a 50 yd td reception in them?

Happened to catch a glimpse of Wallace burning a Panthers Db for a Td, this is what I thought:
-replay first started :"Groan, that hail mary throw is being re-run to have a hit piece on us"
-He catches the ball and scores a Td instead
Oh yeah, he did do that, and he did score that Td v NYJ
To me, that is his place, not inside the 10, more 30-50 yd plays for long Td's, not that he is helpless as a Wr weapon, more those things are what he is good at doing -

Is Wallace worth his money? No, many players aren't. I am pretty sure though that his contract doesn't have stipulations for salary that state he must master more routes and become more dimensional. He got offered a contract to do the same job he did in Pittsburgh, and although the production isn't the same, I can't blame him for that.
I know if I could get paid more to perform my same job, I would take it. And I don't think I should be blamed for doing anything wrong if I did.mnfinfan, MelbournePhin, Canad-phin and 7 others like this. -

His BODY OF WORK in Pittsburgh made him a top 5 producing WR in the NFL. That is what we paid for.
He has 4 games to get 400 yards and 4 TD's to keep his production level (roughly) the same (with somewhere around a 14 YPC avg, I got to re-calculate)..... Can he do it?padre31 likes this. -

Also, that kind of production is not dime a dozen. How many players average those numbers over a 4 year span?
Last year there were only 10 WRs in the NFL that accomplished both. In 2011, 9 WRs. 2010, 9 WRs. And those are guys that simply accomplished it once. If you're talking about averaging it over that period of time, one would assume that number gets smaller. That means you have to be a top 10 WR to put up those numbers. If you're a top 10 WR in production and scare defenses so much that it makes the rest of your offense that much better, you are worth big money. Those guys don't grow on trees. In order to get one you have to get lucky and draft one, or spend a lot of money.thisperishedmin, MrClean, jim1 and 1 other person like this. -
I love how KB says 16 game stretch like its nothing.

I know a high salary player can mess with your cap if your not getting enough production, but i have to wait until after the season to see if we could clearly tell how much the wallace affect is giving us..if we make the playoffs and he rises his game doing so, we might have a good discussion. -
After doing some research, the only WRs to average 1000 yards and 8 TDs over the past 4 years other than Wallace are: Calvin Johnson, Marques Colston, and Roddy White.
Not Larry Fitzgerald. Not Wes Welker. Not Brandon Marshall. Not Reggie Wayne. Not Andre Johnson.
I would say that's hardly dime a dozen. -
This idea that he impacts the game when he isn't touching the ball is probably the most overrated impact in all of football.
Brian Hartline isn't anymore productive now than he was without Wallace last year. Charles Clay is giving us the same production he had on a smaller scale from last year. The only difference is that this year, he is getting an opportunity.
Your impact on the game is what you do when you touch the football. -
So, you think a 16 game span in the middle of a 64 game set tells you more than the entire the set of data? You also want to ignore a 24 game stretch at the end of that data set that shows a downward trend in production that has continued through this year's 12 game set?
Why not? We have ignored the fact that he is a lousy route runner who was put into a timing passing offense. -

B) gosh binky, your methodology is flawed, 64 games, then where is the chart or stats that show the matrix between other players' production, other Wr production, dropped passes etc
Of all the things, I truly despise, this idea of "stats rule all things" in the NFL is at the top of the list
Each and every NFL game is 120 plays or more of a heavy weight fight with wildly unpredictable results as to outcome and yet...gosh..let's reduce the guy sticking a finger into the offensive or defensive lineman's facemask, and a missed tackle into it
KB, you of all people should know better, one has been seduced by numbers and not by what you are seeing -
-
Poor KB, it must pain him to see Wallace producing while doing everything he said he couldn't. All that while consistently being open deep.

What's really funny about this debate is that many of the same people that are the first to cry about persecution when people disagree with them about being negative on Tannehill, are turning around a persecuting people who are negative about Wallace.

Being "negative" is one thing...going out of your way to hate on a player is another.
Wallace has been playing fantastic, and still there are some that can't just admidt that. Funny to me. -
