lmao who cares what that D bag thinks?

Westhoff stirring the pot, I see. You feel that strongly about Bonamego, Mike? Quit your job so that Bonamego can take it.

Well that is the most exact naming of names that I have seen concerning the the special teams debacle on MNF.
At Sparano's presser he mentioned Austin Spitler played 15 plays and he did not hear any negative feedback, which is a wake up call to Mr Carpenter, but with Sparano, a wake up call generally means you are waived with 9 days to go until the Packers game Carpenter had better be renting on a month by month deal.FinFan_Est.1984 likes this. -

-most of the churned players are inactive to begin with, they constitute the inactive list or practice squad, to suggest otherwise is simply wrong.
-Crowder missing the first four games meant a Veteran ILB had to be brought in, Carpenter was the best FA ILB available, as poorly as he played vs the Patriots is as good as he played vs the Vikings.
-Bonamego's ST unit played poorly in the preseason and it carried over into the regular season, the idea that Carpenter showed up and the unit became poor is also simply wrong, Carpenter was nowhere to be seen in the preseason when two punts were blocked. Why didn't Bonamego fix that problem before the games mattered?
-Since when should anyone take what a division rival Coaching Staff has to say be taken seriously? Who is naive enough to take what they have to say at face value?FinFan_Est.1984 and Fin D like this. -

Carpenter
One would also know they played special teams last season and were not "churned" players, those who are churned 99% of the time do not play at first, they may eventually see the field, but either way, they had nothing to do with the problems on ST, that is merely a paste eating idea.
Whether he is waived or relegated remains to be seen, the larger point is Carpenter was not the sole problem the ST unit was bad in the preseason as well.

I would be mad if I was Westy to.....no more easily blocked punts for his team....

If that "douche bag" was the Dolphins ST coach on Monday, maybe you guys win and not get embarrassed on national TV?

Further, where is it written, that all the things Westoff listed didn't have ANYTHING to do with scheme? Its is job to coach up the players they have, he failed.finyank13 likes this. -

Pathetic comeback. Peyton Manning was in the game until the late 3rd QTR. We were in the lead and had momentum. The Bengals on the other hand got completely destroyed on Sunday Night. It wasn't until we were up 28-0 until they took their starters out. How do you like them apples?
How was it watching us destroy the Bengals AGAIN in the playoffs at their house? How was watching that ome?
What about beating the Chargers in THEIR house? How was watching that one?
If it wasn't for our secondary, we would have made the Super Bowl in YOUR house. Go do some research, rookie. -

We have been bringing in good special teams players for two years now, Dobbins, Walden Carpenter etc...
Did they forget how to do it when they got here? No, it was the coaching and the schemes, plane and simple.
Westhoff is still bitter because he still wants to be here!:shifty: -

Bobby Carpenter is an emergency move. He was out there, the front office is familiar with him and vice versa, we lost AJ Edds, Crowder is hurt… yeah, you sign Carpenter in that scenario. And it’s not like it was a terrible signing. Carpenter helped us win the Vikings game, despite helping us to lose the Patriots game.
So in that context, I can’t blast Ireland for having Carpenter on the team. If training camp goes a little smoother he’s not even here. -
And no, I also don't assume someone is bitter over losing a football game. In fact, the reactions here are way more telling (and bitter) than Westhoff's remarks.
-
It's not so much that I mind the Carpenter sign per se. He's okay at ILB depth. The problem is, he stinks on ST - always has - and yet we plug him right in there. And that's indicative of a much bigger problem, namely that the FO quite simply doesn't put much value (if any) on ST. And it shows. Contrary to all this nonsense about them putting a premium on ST contribution, they have not brought in one standout ST player. They haven't even drafted one. Heck, we still got Patrick Cobbs at KR and Davone Bess at PR. That's telling right there. They've been treating ST like a stepchild from day 1 and now they're reaping the results. -
Not much we can do there.
I see two problems at work:
First, the coaching staff is overconfident in their ability to correct every flaw in every player. It’s just not possible. But we see them signing injury-prone guys believing that their conditioning program will fix that, and it doesn’t. We see them shunning the use of roster spots specifically for special teams players, believing that they can coach depth and developmental players to become special teams aces, and they can’t. Ireland and Sparano need to bring themselves to more quickly divest themselves of the Ray Feingas and the Clifton Geathers and the Rob Roses of the world to make room for guys who can kick *** on special teams.
And second, the regime is bipolar when it comes to giving players chances. Clifton Smith was here one day and gone the next, Will Allen was put on IR out of nowhere despite the fact that he’s probably ready to play right now; Channing Crowder is not on IR despite the fact that he’s nowhere near ready, and Quentin Moses must have learned blackmail from Bobby Carpenter.
It’s time for Ireland to use some of those bountiful sixth and seventh round draft picks on guys who will solely play special teams, not guys who could develop into serviceable backups in 3 years. -
By the way what exactly am I a rookie of?? What is "YOUR" house?? I live in Rhode Island, my house is on a street behind a high school. Your a secondary coach too?? What is the status of your CB Revis then....I love the fact you responded so harshly at me, one can only contend it is all up in your head....Do me a favor troll, just go away, it is clear all you do is bash Miami and their fans looking for fights, and why the mods havent banned you for trolling, like I did on Jetsnation after 2 comments against that team is beyond me...your a nothing more than a little ***** that hides behind a computer screen....
you give PS17, and Bickety Bam a bad name...BicketyBam likes this. -

And like usual, you and little trolls like yourself will be long gone.
And for the record, Westoff is a rat. He was a guest to Dolphins camp when Parcells took over. And then he went and returned to the Jets just days later. He wants us to cut guys because they can't play on special teams? Sorry Westhoff you dope, but we need guys who can play LB too. Carpenter has been pretty good while Crowders been out. We're not cutting him because he crapped the bed on specials.padre31 likes this. -
Now with that being said, Barbie Carpenter sucks  I know you need a body out there, but this guy is allergic to tackling.

Please tell me your joking? Continuing to get better ? LOL -
It was you and some other posters who were going crazy after the 2-0 start. -
he has played way smarter and more instinctively than dobbins. dobbins has been atrocious. carpenters not a very physical player, but he has been decent against the pass, and is decent at sniffing out the play. dobbins just looks lost.
and progressively gotten worse since coming here? what are you talking about? is that a joke, he's been here a freakin month! he had one piss-poor game on special teams last week. give me a break, he stepped in for Crowder better than any of us could have hoped for.
wait, let me throw a few of these in. I'll copy and paste yours cuz i be lazy:

BUT>>> He stopped the best RB in the league, twice, both times in the redzone.
Not sure my hero Urlacher couldve done that.
Damn, not sure ZACH couldve stopped Adrian Peterson TWICE in within the 10 yard line.....Sethdaddy8 likes this. -
Some people see a word like "decent" or "okay" and they fail at understanding the true meaning of that very simple word. Hint: it does not mean great. -
That said, Sparano mentioned Austin Spitler in his day after presser which could easily mean Carpenter should have his bags packed as they will cut a player in a heart beat. -
