So we have no one worth mentioning at backup QB right now. Very risky but understandable given cap constraints. Have to hope Skylar somehow improves his decision-making speed by a huge amount with a full offseason of practice or we're screwed if Tua goes down.

Steady hand and scheme fit I guess.
Backup QB is generally an ‘insurance policy’, so steady/safe is probably more prudent.

I Would have liked somebody with more upside, like Darnold. Maybe he ends up getting a lot more money than I thought?
I don’t know 8 Mill seems higher end on the backup market.

This is such a fantastic move. He instantly made the Jets better the second Wilson was benched.

He has a live arm combined with our track team at WR. We have a very, very QB friendly system. This is really gonna work out.

I agree. The Jets were a much better team with White at the helm and he has a good arm.

It's "up to" $16 million, there has to be playing incentives attached to the deal.

I don't like Mike White, he was way over hyped by a Jets organization and teammates who have never seen good quarterback play in a long time.

Hopefully, he holds the clipboard for 17 games.

Not excited would have liked someone else. I guess for a few people on here he's probably our new starter... :)

Pretty much what I expected for a backup quarterback. He at least has the ability to come in a game and not **** the bed. Two games might be stretching it.

An upgrade over last year Skyler Thompson that is for sure.

So much money spent to try to get a full QB. What a low bar we set at QB. Needed to draft someone. Dogcrap of a signing.

It's easy to be disappointed, but considering limited options and cap constraints not surprising.

I think it's less about Mike White and more they liked what they saw out of Thompson in a road playoff game where he gave his team a shot to win. I hope it's Thompson that wins the gig and he continues to improve.

Exactly. IMO, a quality backup QB is one that is capable of winning a game or two in the absence of the starter and White's shown the ability to be that guy. I'm not unhappy at all.

I can't imagine a more toxic mentor for Zach Wilson. Rodgers is an ego-driven narcissist with a great arm and impressive resume, while Wilson is an ego-driven narcissist with a good arm but nothing to base his overly-impressed view of himself on. Maybe we'll get Hard Knocks in Jestland this year so we can see their QB coach pull his hair out.

Agree. I think this keeps Thompson in the conversation for 2nd string while also giving us an opportunity to catch lightening in a bottle with Mike White. He's had some big games as a quarterback. Very similar to the way Ryan Fitzpatrick would have big games early on in his career. Very sporadic, but towards the end was consistent. White will be a nice insurance policy for Tua. He can play...He's better than Bridgewater.

I don't get it We are paying double for an inferior backup. Its not if Tua gets hurt it's when and for how long.I think Skylar will best this guy out.

With incentives it could be worth 16mill. I'm sure a lot of that is playing time stuff so if he earns it he earns it.
