We seem to all of a sudden have acquired a plethora of minority owners.
And I happened to hear just a small piece of an interview with Marc Anthony. He mentioned something about "rolling up his sleeves and getting to work"...
So it occurred to me - just what would he actually be doing in the way of work with this team?

sit in the owners box, and tell people he is working?

Since he is a musician, I would assume he just does drugs in the owner's box...

Well, I would say it depends on what minority they are, but I don't stereotype as a rule.

As far as our new minority owners.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its all about creating Electricity in a stadium that is completely void of it......
I'am sure its a small piece, with plenty of fine print for him to stay the hell away from the football operations side.
Ross's angle...Lets make our stadium like one big party, with our OWN fans.
Local celebs having a piece brings a sense of unity within our community,
like em or not they do rep south florida.

In this particular case, they bring their prestige & notoriety to the Franchise.

Doesn't matter so long as whatever their doing is far far away from whatever Bill Parcell's is doing.
IF they do that, great value additions to the Miami FO.eltos_lightfoot likes this. -

would we be asking what the owners do if they weren't minorities. Think about it.

Maybe this is just wild speculation, but I think Ross has a kind of smart angle here.
Maybe he's selling these people a stake in the team, and as a result, gaining access to them as performers. I doubt he would have to pay them to perform at a game, considering ticket revenues are going to be beneficial to them. Basically he's got a Vegas-style fixed venue arrangement with artists who are theoretically very popular in the specific market.
It would serve very much as a hook to people. Where I sit at games is about 60$ per seat, which is comparable, or even less than concert tickets for many of these artists. Come for the concert, but you're a captive audience for the game.
At least from the standpoint of Estefan and Anthony, they are a big draw among growing Hispanic populations in South Florida, which is a demographic that the NFL has been trying hard to gather. The Aqua Crush and djphinfan like this. -
I'm a CPA and business attorney. I see sales of business interests routinely in my work.
When they say "minority owner", notice they aren't saying what % is owned/transferred to the celeb.
Considering the team is worth about $1B (give or take), then if these celebs are paying, say, $1M for their portion, that would buy a one-tenth of one percent (ie, 0.001) ownership.
Heck, even a $10M investment would only buy one percent. And I greatly doubt these celebs are investing $10M. I know they're rich, but $10M in investable CASH is a whole lot, even for them. Most of their wealth is probably tied up already in non-liquid assets like realty, other businesses, "toys" (cars, boats, planes, etc).
They're probably cutting a check for, say, $1M-range for about a 0.001 ownership.
But, hey, it's still a million-dollar investment to the celeb, even if it's a ultra-small %.
This is enough to call them a minority owner (although truly miniscule), and get their help/involvement in promoting the Fins. And, Ross isn't out anything (except some legal fees, ha) since he's been paid fair market value for the tiny portion transferred.
He probably also has buy-out provisions (at his option) spelling out a maximum purchase price to buy-back the % from the celeb later (with a built-in ceiling price, so even if the franchise increases in value a huge amount, he only has to pay part of that increase to buy-out the celeb).
Anyway, I could go on, but that should give you a little bit of reality to understand what's really happening here.

If I ever win the lottery this is exactly what I would do. I would by a percentage of the Dolphins no matter how small it was just so I could call myself an owner.

I think that now that we have a minority President, we will see a lot more minority owners.

Everyone here knows a minority owner refers to non-controlling interest (less that 50%) of the business, not the racial background of the person right?
........right?

I assume it is work building the brand and leveraging the entertainment potential of the stadium and football events (halftimes, singing during playoff games, doing season kickoff parties etc.)
If he tries to go to Davie on a Monday morning, I'll personally fly to Florida and live la vida loca all over his *** with steel toed boots.
And yes, I know that's Ricky Martin's song. I don;t know any of Marc Antony's.late again, opfinistic and djphinfan like this. -

Party hardy in the owner's box. Otherwise, help attract more people to attend the games, smart ploy by Ross. And this is NOT a race thing, last I remember, Jimmy Buffet is Caucasian. It IS however, very smart to aim at bringing in the Latino market, their money spends as well as any other and they are solid fans, just like you and me.
And creating more of a party atmosphere in the stadium cannot be a bad thing IMHO.opfinistic likes this. -
