How could anyone seriously consider breaking up the Red Sox/Yankees and Mets/Phillies/Braves? Outrageous! http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/rosenthal-realignment-proposal-022510
Horrible. And, for the most part, it would destroy the novelty of interleague play. It'll never happen.
orioles, nationals and blue jays lol lets just put a bow on the ****ing division for the yankees every year.....
It won't ever happen. Unless they put in 2 new AL teams depending on what cities they go to, there won't be any movement on teams/divisons etc. so there's not really a discussion here. MLB should get rid of interleague play or at least change it up so it is more balanced.
The discussion is how bad of a proposal this is. Obviously it's not going to happen but it's interesting none the less. Get off your high horse Finkle!
Nope because I like the view from my high horse Mikey! And because you look so small standing on the ground looking up to me. Plus I'm trying to end each and every thread you start, starting with this one. Big headshakeno.
New Jersey A's ???????????????????????????? How the hell they come up with that? Would be cool but highly unlikely.
That would be terrible. Yankees-Red Sox is the best rivalry in sports. Baseball would be stupid to break it up. They would lose a lot of money
You guys are taking this seriously? This is Rosenthal filling a column, nothing more......of course radical realignment like this just isn't going to happen. Nor should it. Yes, right now the AL East seems a little unfair, but baseball has always done well by practicing small-conservatism with respect to this kind of thing and not allowing temporary problems to dictate long-term planning. If the AL East is a joke or no small market team makes it to the WS for another 5-10 years call me, but right now this sort of thing is best left as an intellectual exercise, not a serious proposal.
And like the article said, the Tampa Bay Rays made it to the world Series in 2008, 2 years later, they are saying its unfair when the Yankees win there first since 2000. And i know his point is not about world series, rather by playoffs but i still think if the Yankees never won the world series this year, the article would have never been written
The only thing i do think is unfair is is the NL Central having 6 teams. I think if they were going to do anything, move the Brewers back to the AL West, or even a better idea, put the Astros in the AL West. Astros-Rangers could be a great rival
They are not moving to Jersey. They will EVENTUALLY get their stadium built in between Oakland and San Jose.
Then there would be an uneven number of teams in each division. Yeah it stinks that the NL Central has 6 teams and AL West only has 4 but if anything MLB would add to new teams to the AL. Other than that there's nothing they can really do. It is what it is.
Wait, what? if the Astros moved to the AL West there would be 5 teams in each division. Nice and even.
But then there would be 15 teams in each league so one AL team would always have to play one NL team each night.
Holy crap, I never thought about that before. I always wondered why it was uneven. Makes sense. You win this time Finkle.
