Yeah, this isn't in the official MMA thread. And I'm never putting anything in there again. Well, maybe not never. But I personally dislike those massive threads. One thread for an entire sport? And technically, they don't help the site from a search engine standpoint. More threads is better. Within reason, of course. Common sense applies. Anyway, Carano and Santos (Cyborg is a stupid name) are fighting August 15th on Showtime. And now for the bigger news. Granted this was from over a week ago. But I just heard another cat talking on the radio this morning about it, and didn't see it in 'the monstrocity'. Anyway, it's looking like Fedor could very well be jumping to UFC assuming he gets past Josh Barnett. Fedor was in the US last week. Is there anything/anyone else outside the UFC that could "change the UFC forever"?
Eh. Im being skeptical. Ive heard this one too many times. They supposebly had the deal "done" and even were supposed to announce it, but it got cancelled to due "minor fixtures" but..hey, if it happens, it will be awesome. Yes Fedor was in us, i saw him at the strikeforce event. He was with bunch of Russians repping the M-1 shirts. If that happens...my god
Would Fedor-Lesnar not be the biggest fight ever? Assuming they can manage to keep winning of course. But the build-up would be monumental. And it would definitely shatter the box office record. A late December blowout card like last year would be perfect. Make Rampage-Rashad one of the co-mains. Give the 'new' viewers more great fights and get them hooked!
not happening....sorry.....no way they give fedor a one fight contract for the title......cause if he wins.....it looks like ****....he walks in....beats the ufc HW champ and walks out saying "told you im the best...." and its done.....enless they add more fights to the contract i dont see dana giving fedor a one fight contract...
No doubt. Dana said Fedor would get the title shot immediately...but will it happen? Thats the question.
im lookin for a link but on the sherdog forums it has been mentioned multiple times fedor is asking for a one fight contract for the title
FTR: people are saying this is the big announcement....... http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=20420
I think Randy is a better match up for Fedor than Brock would be. I just honestly dont see anyone in MMA that can stand with Lesnar and have more then a slim chance at winning.
Brocks a world class wrestler who happens to be as strong as a polar bear on LSD....I'd imagine you wouldn't want to try to wrestle with him.
Submission game, and wrestling is two different things. Plus college wrestling and NCAA wrestling is two different things. I think Fedor has shown that he can submit from any position on the ground.
besides randy was a olympic alternate in greco roman wrestling......look how he did against brock lmao.......brock>>>randy......and brock would have a better chance against fedor
I think Randy is too old. It has been said before, but i think he really is. and E, what do you exactly mean by "world class wrestling" ? He won an NCAA tourney 10 years ago, sure. Have he shown that in his fights? Against Herring he didin't try to do anything to finish the fight. He pretty much sat on top of the guy, hitting him now and then. Could it be part of his gamelplan? Sure. But uh, definitely not "world class"
He didn't just win a NCAA Tourney he dominated in college, his complete career record was like 106-5 and this is against competition that a good percentage of go to the olympics, etc. Plus he wrestled at Minnesota meaning he competed in what could be argueably the toughest wrestling (Big Ten) conference in the nation. Penn State and Iowa alone have been powerhouse schools for years and years. The Herring match was before he started working out with Extreme Coutore, now he should have the skills on the ground to dominate anyone. And I want to see the Randy, Fedor match for the simple fact that I am a Randy fan, if he wants the match let the man have the match. He has done enough for this biz and deserves to have his last hurrah so to speak.
E You make a pint that he wresteld at the toughest division, and had a ridiculois record...before Herring. And he did not with him on the ground. Now he trained for Xtreme for a year, and he will be able to dominate anybody on the ground? I dont see your logic.
My point is...the dude is a phenom. He's not human. He doesn't need yrs to develop into the best heavyweight in the world, he was almost there before he even developed fighting skills.
Not Human? Ask Mir, he'll tell you how unhuman he is. He is BIG and STRONG. He has not shown any techniques yet. At least not to me.
people are buying this Hype by UFC around Lesnar imo. Fedor would destroy him...i hope to god this news is true and Fedor signs with UFC(hopefully multi fight contract though, which im sure it would be), cuz there would be a true UFC heavyweight champ then..
I root against Brock just because I generally pull for the underdog. But the fact is, he's a physical and athletic freak. A true Planet Theory guy. And as such, he's got an big advantage over pretty everyone he steps in with, right off the bat. He just physically overwhelms. The fact that he became UFC heavyweight champion in his fourth career MMA fight is a testament to the specimen. THAT SAID, I think Lesnar can and will be beaten. Maybe it's Mir again, maybe someone else. Hell I thought Gonzaga would be a good matchup. I think it will be somebody with a dynamic skill set and a gameplan. Because I can't imagine anybody beating him standing up and trading.
the thing thats completely scary.....is lesnar will only get more well rounded.....and even better as he trains more and more in a vast majority of techniques.......hes going to be very good for a very long time...
See that's the thing. A lot of great fighters don't. He's got the ability. And he should continue getting better regardless. But will he ever become a proficient at anything else? Will he learn some ju jitsu? Submission? Submission defense? Or will he always be a bruiser with wrestling skills? Lord knows he's plenty overwhelming right now. But if he does begin incorporating those other facets......Terminator.
