Feel like poking fun at mine, I can't even remember who I chose, or which team I was. I could use a good laugh.
Con you were Baltimore and drafted: 29: JEREL WORTHY, DT, MICHIGAN STATE - Score! 61: DWAYNE ALLEN, TE, CLEMSON - Score! 93: JAMES BROWN, OG, TROY Went undrafted. Huh. I don't see anything particularly wrong with your Jacksonville draft. It's one year out. Ben Jones played pretty well, and Vick Ballard ended up playing really well IMO considering the OL in front of him. Michael Floyd produced despite having one of the worst QB situations in football, one of the best WRs in football hogging up all the targets, and another solid veteran WR on the depth chart. As for the Club Level draft...Quinton Coples actually looked good after his first couple of games if anyone cared to notice. Brandon Weeden's year in Cleveland was no worse than Ryan Tannehill's year in Miami. Mohamed Sanu had limited playing time (116 pass snaps) but scored 4 touchdowns. My goodness if Hartline had even scored 4 touchdowns we'd never hear the end of how he's actually an ideal starter, etc. Mitchell Schwartz was unequivocally better than Johnathan Martin in 2012 and was one of the best performing OL rookies in the entire league. Chase Ford bounced around practice squads but at pick #199 that's not a huge loss. Jerry Franklin and Markelle Martin made rosters, we're not going to know how deep their potential goes until three years from now. Devon Wylie hasn't had much of a chance yet but he did catch a few balls. You walk out of a draft with a starting Defensive End, a starting Quarterback, a starting Right Tackle, and a rotational WR that already caught 4 touchdowns as a rookie...that's not a bad draft. That's looking pretty good thus far.
I was Carolina. 1st Rd) Luke Kuechly LB - Actual pick. DROY. 2nd Rd) Kendall Reyes DT - 2nd Round pick by SD. Started 4 games. Had 5.5 sacks. DT is still a position of need for Carolina this year. 4th Rd) Ron Brooks CB - 4th Round pick by Buf. Didn't do too much. Carolina may be cutting Chris Gamble. They will need a CB this year. 4th Rd)Rishard Matthews WR - 7th Round Pick for Miami. Showed some potential. 6th Rd) Bryan Anger P - 3rd round pick by Jax. 6th Rd) Tim Fugger DE - 7th round pick by Indy. 7th Rd) Joe Looney OG - 4th round pick by SF. Overall, I'd say I did a pretty decent job. Matthews was a reach but maybe he would have had a better season with Cam.
I had Dallas 1st - CB Stephon Gilmore - Showed good potential, started all 16 games 2nd - C Peter Konz - Drafted in 2nd - Started 10 games for ATL at guard 3rd - FS George Iloka - Drafted in 5th - Minimal playing time for Cincy 4th - DE/OLB Jonathan Massaquoi - Drafted in 5th - Minimal playing time for ATL 4th(comp) - WR TY Hilton - Drafted in 3rd - Score big time 5th - DT Derek Wolfe - Drafted in 2nd - Played well as a rookie, 6 sacks 6th - QB Nick Foles - Drafted in 3rd - Played in 7 games, should at least turn into a solid backup 7th - RB Tauren Poole - UDFA - Didn't play last year All in all this was a good draft. Got 4 quality starters (Gilmore, Hilton, Wolfe, Konz) and possibly a starting QB (Foles)
That's a good draft. Good mix of identifying guys that were underrated by your fellow drafters and also making sure you took them for a reason.
I didn't see it sorry. That's a LOT of picks. God damn. I love Tannehill obviously. I love Fleener. I've seen some film on Boykin with the Eagles and he should have a bright future. Keshawn Martin was a really nice call.
Here's mine as the Lions: 1st (23). Detroit - NICK PERRY, DE, USC (First rd #28 to Packers in real life) 2nd (54). Detroit - JOSH ROBINSON, CB, UCF (3rd rd #66 to Vikings in real life) 3rd (87). Detroit - JEFF ALLEN, OT, ILLINOIS (2nd rd 44 to Chiefs in real life) 4th (119). Detroit - BERNARD PIERCE, RB, TEMPLE (3rd rd pick 84 to Ravens in real life) 5th (160). Detroit - DAVID MOLK, C, MICHIGAN (7th rd 226 to Chargers in real life, my biggest reach) 6th (194). Detroit - TAYLOR THOMPSON, TE, SMU (5th rd 145 to Titans in real life) 7th (222). Detroit - DANNY COALE, WR, VIRGINIA TECH (5th rd 152 to Cowboys in real life) 7th (233). Detroit - MARKUS ZUSEVICS, OT, IOWA (UDFA for Pats in real life)
I think I took the following players on #MockFour: R1A: DE Quinton Coples, North Carolina R1B: QB Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State R03: WR Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma R5A: OT Donald Stephenson, Oklahoma R5B: OL Tom Compton, South Dakota R06: S Winston Guy, Kentucky R7A: TE Chase Ford, Miami (FL) R7B: TE Taylor Thompson, SMU I thought Quinton Coples played well. Thought Brandon Weeden did as well as Tannehill, only drawback there is obviously clock is ticking faster because of his age. Thought Ryan Broyles, Donald Stephenson, Winston Guy and Taylor Thompson all played football and looked good doing it. Winston Guy was covering Tony Gonzalez pretty darn well in the playoff game. Tony is Tony and he made a really incredible catch on Winston, but otherwise Winston was all over him like white on rice. I think Stephenson was shoved into duty and performed well, especially against the Denver Broncos and Von Miller. Taylor Thompson has a great blocking grade from PFF and he's the reason the Texans are comfortable letting a valuable, young asset like James Casey walk via free agency.
First 2 picks I thought you were going to blow away folks with your draft....and then the wheels just fell right off. Still better then the vast majority of Dolphin drafts from 2000-2007 ;p
The one glaring mistake I made was Zebrie Sanders over Schwartz. At least for their rookie seasons. Sanders missed all of his with an injury.
I'd say I did pretty well for the Eagles... my only question is when will someone be offering me a job in the NFL? 1 (015) - Mark Barron, S, Alabama Stats: 88 TKL, 10 PD, 1 INT, 1 FF Breakdown: Drafted in the 1st Round (#7 Overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Barron started all 16 games at strong safety. Barron had a solid rookie campaign with one of his highlights being picking off Tom Brady during the preseason for his first career NFL touchdown. Expectations are very high for Barron who was the highest selected Alabama defensive back in school history. 2 (046) - Lavonte David, LB, Nebraska Stats: 139 TKL, 20 TFL, 2 SK, 5 PD, 1 INT Breakdown: Drafted in the 2nd round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, David started all 16 games at outside linebacker for the Buccaneers. David had a very successful rookie campaign winning the Defensive Rookie of the Month award in November and posted 20 tackles-for-loss, the most by a rookie since 2001. David finished fifth in the NFL Rookie of the Year Award. 2 (051) - Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson Stats: 1 TKL Breakdown: Drafted in the 3rd round by the Cincinnati Bengals, Thompson played sparingly his first NFL season. Thompson played in three games in 2012 registering one tackle. 3 (090) - Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt Stats: 53 TKL, 21 PD, 6 INT, 1 FF Breakdown: Drafted in the 2nd round by the Green Bay Packers, Hayward turned a lot of heads with a very successful rookie season. Hayward won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month Award with 4 interceptions in 3 games in the month of October. He finished third in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. According to Pro Football Focus, opposing quarterbacks only had a passer rating of 31.1 against him, the lowest against any corner in the NFL. 4 (116) - Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma Stats: 22 REC, 310 YDS, 14.1 AVG, 2 TD Breakdown: Drafted in the 2nd round by the Detroit Lions, Broyles became a solid contributor (10 GP, 3 GS) for the Lions until he was placed on IR for the season. Things were looking up for Broyles with his first 100 yard game against Houston (6 REC, 126 YDS) but he tore his ACL against Indianapolis the very next week. 5 (155) - Tom Compton, OT, South Dakota Stats: N/A Breakdown: Drafted in the 6th round by the Washington Redskins, Compton was assigned to the Redskins' practice squad. In December, Compton was promoted to the 53 man roster in place of Cedric Griffin. 6 (174) - Olivier Vernon, DE, Miami Stats: 32 TKL, 3.5 SK, 1 FF Breakdown: Drafted in the 3rd round by the Miami Dolphins, Vernon had made a solid contribution to the Dolphins on defense and special teams. 6 (197) - Chandler Harnish, QB, Northern Illinois Stats: N/A Breakdown: Drafted in the 7th round by the Indianapolis Colts as Mr. Irrelevant for 2012. Harnish is currently on the practice squad of the Colts. 6 (203) - Michael Smith, RB, Utah State Stats: N/A Breakdown: Drafted in the 7th round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Smith played sparingly in 2012 but made the 53 man roster.
