I don't mind small maps either, but every single map being tiny and cramped? A little diversity would be nice imo. Even then, these maps are even more "urban" than the "urban" maps that came before it on past CODs. Much more so imo.
Take 10 guys, put them is a studio apartment with assault rifles, and tell them to have at it. That about sums it up for me. I can't go more than 3 feet without running into an enemy and 8/10 times I am looking the wrong way when I do. I also have a hard time seeing the opposing players. They kind of blend it. Thank got FF is off, because I shoot at anything that moves!
I'm still trying to find a spot where I only have to worry about covering 2 directions. Every place seems to leave you open from all 4 side as well as from above. I hate that. I am not a camper. But I like a map where you can sneak up on an objective and I haven't figured how to do that in this game yet. This game really makes me appreciate BF3 even more. Building that collapse. Maps that make sense. Cover you can use to advance on a position. Vehicles. Strategy. It's the complete package. I have a few minor gripes (can they make the damn Javelin work properly?!) but all in all the game is awesome. And my K/d in it is around .5 - .6, but I don't care. I capture abjectives, arm and defend coms, run interference, etc. And it's enjoyable. So far in COD I am cannon fodder.
Pretty much sums it up really. At first I thought, "Well, at least there's no bushwookies crawling around the map." Now, **** it, give me decent maps, I'll gladly accept the consequences of 3/4 of every team laying around in the back of the map doing nothing with their Barrett .50 cal in hand.
Good point. Black Ops you could work the edges and get the feel of the game without getting raped every 10 seconds. Not so with this game. I hate the small maps too. I really don't see myself warming up to them. Oh well. We'll see how I do tonight but if it's just a lot more games like yesterday my interest is going to wane quickly. BTW, gametag = MonstBlitz if any of you guys want some easy kills.
What maps are you talking about exactly? I honestly don't feel any fit the description of cramped. There are no real rust or shipment type maps. Hard hat may be theclosest one. And that map has several ways to navigate so I dont think its cramped like rust or shipment.
All of them. Cramped might not be the word I was looking for. Though cramped is the perfect word to describe Ground War I'm sure. I don't even want to think about that. What I meant was it's all just a big cluster**** of small rooms, narrow streets, hallways, and intersections. COD has never been much of a game of skill, but I feel the disparity between luck and skill is far worse in this game. Too much running into choke points and hoping you pick the right entrance to aim down into while also hoping an enemy isn't coming into one of the several other entrances of this room.
Played some more tonight. Getting better. Problem is I'm not having anymore fun. These maps are terrible. I'm completely sick of them already.
I'm finding all the maps so similar. Why is it that the best maps were in MW1? Can't anyone figure this out. The hit detection and lag is killing me. I have an excellent connection but I'm getting killed by lag. I have not found a gun I like yet. You are almost forced to use Assassin in all your classes because there is ALWAYS a UAV in the air. It is constant. Noob tubes are drastically toned down, this is a good thing. I've probably played 40 games and only been killed once by a tube. Grenades are also drastically toned down. No more freebies. I've switched to stickies, you have a better chance of sticking it to someone for a kill. There is always a kill streak happening but they are not game killers like MW2. The spawn points are atrocious. I love the "kill confirmed" game mode. I still don't know if I like it or not. I'm going to dig into the campaign on the weekend and then play the multi-player for another week.
About 1000 rates in on gamespot, so far it has a very mediocre 5.8/10 for the 360, and a pretty mediocre 6.5/10 for the PC. You think that's bad? Out of over 1500 rates on metacritic, 2.8/10 for 360, 1.5/10 for the PC, 2.1/10 for the PS3 . Looks like the downfall of IW could come even sooner than I expected. People are livid about this game, as we should be. Edit - for anyone wondering, BF3 has an 8.2 for the 360, 8.5 for PC and PS3 on gamespot. On metacritic, 7.2 on all systems. The highest MW2 got on metacritic was a 6.0 for the 360 version. The MW2 page for gamespot isnt working. And finally, COD4 got a 9.1 or better on all 3 systems on gamespot, with over 60,000 ratings, no lower than an 8.5 on metacritic. I'm sensing a trend...
Anyone know if you can return an opened game to Amazon for a new one, then trade in the new one (granted it's packaged) for a refund? Returning or selling this abortion of a game.
From what I've read, people with great connections are the ones being screwed. The people with the crappy connections have the advantage. -Ed- sent from my mobile device
Tried sending friend request - is gt all one word? EDIT - found ya! cra*ppy work system doesn't like xbox live site... /:l just sent request (same gt as here)
Couldn't get into a game last night, PS3 here. Tried five times, then realized perhaps I should check for a PS3 system update, sure enough, there was one. But haven't tried getting in since. Anyone else have problems last night on PS3? I'm looking forward to playing Domination once I learn these crazy maps. I really enjoy the extra strategy aspect, yet its still simple enough that most everyone can understand whats going on.
Domination? Good luck trying to strategize while ****heads run around looking for easy kills to pad that K/D ratio.
Exactly. What they need to do is give the winning team a crap ton of points in the all the objective games. That is the only way you will get the kids to actually try to win.
That wouldn't fix it. The driving force is K/D. The only way to really solve it is to not count kills and deaths in objective based games. It would force all those people to stick to Deathmatch and let the people who wanted to actually strategize with objective based games do so without all the bull****. Don't feel bad. I haven't even checked, but mine can't be much better. I'm consistently in bottom 2 every game I play. It's getting better as I unlock stuff, but still awful.
What's the one thing every CoD player tells you? K/D. Unlocking stuff in the game is nice, but K/D is what the other players judge you on. That's why people **** up Domination and Capture the flag games. Because if a good player doesn't care about the objectives, they can rack up a 72 - 3 game.
I play objective based games and expect to get killed a lot. My BF3 k/d is .464. But I am a great team player and to me, that is what these games should be about. I am still pretty lousy at aiming though
I have a 16 year old son and all he cares about is k/d. When I told him mine was .30 he looked at me like I just told him I had terminal cancer. No lie.
My Black Ops K/D was way over 1 before I decided I needed to unlock Marathon Pro. Playing Capture the Flag and trying to actually return flags destroyed it. LMFAO.
Let me know if anyone wants to play some private matches. I am usually on with 4 - 6 guys and if you have a group the same size, we could play each other. None of us are great, but it beats getting raped by 13 year olds.
I'm probably in the minority on this but I prefer black ops mp to the crapfest that is mw3. I'm loving BF3.
From the people I've talked to that have played both you're in the majority, myself included. I don't see how anyone could objectively say the MW3 multiplayer is an overall better experience. This will be the last MW / IW game I buy.
What system are most of you guys on? I'm trying to decide what system to get it on. I had black ops on both and the ps3 seemed easier, but I preferred the feel of the xbox one. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
Got slightly better last night, helped with the support rather than assault kill streak, K/D probably around .69 now but didn't feel as though I was getting raped as much. I'm up for a private match on the 360 (timezone permitting though :s )
I figured out the source of my frustration. I have Fios with 25 up and 25 down. More often than not I end up host. Because of that I am subject to the games lag compensation. Google lag compensation MW3. They over did it. It punishes the people with good connections. I also think some people are using lag switches. Played a match where a guy went 32-1. Our ping was constantly bouncing from green to red and this guy was impossible to kill. -Ed- sent from my mobile device
I was having a ton of fun playing Domination last night. Most of those maps I hadn't played before. I mean, I only played DM the first night for about an hour and it seemed like only one of those maps I encountered last night. In other words, there's a **** load of maps to learn. I was really enjoying the Parisian market map. So I played for probably two hours yesterday with the same group of people and I don't believe I played the same map twice. I'm playing mostly with a SCAR that is silenced. Got the ACOG scope for it last night, not sure if I like it. One guy was running around with a sniper rifle, quick scoping. That seemed pretty effective, on me at least But I think for the most part sniping is nonexistant with these maps. Which is a shame because I like to try that every once in a while. Not enough distance though.
I'm starting to get used to the game (and therefore liking it more), but I've only played TDM so far. I'm interested in trying HCTDM, S&D, and Kill Confirmed as well.
I read somewhere how you can tell right before the match starts. I'll have to look it up. Two nights ago I was in a party with my friends. I was having one of those matches where I couldn't kill anyone. In the middle of the game I just quit and the second I did all my friends moaned that the game stopped and was migrating the host. So I knew it me. There isn't an option to turn hosting off. But I am going to change my router settings to get my NAT to moderate. I'm also going to steam HD movies on both my PC's and my Blu-Ray player while I play. How crazy is it that you have to slow your connection instead of speeding it up?! -Ed- sent from my mobile device
