I'm a little bit surprised here... aren't we pretty shallow at Guard now? So much for the talk of Smiley starting at LG alongside Jake and Mormino starting at RG... interesting. Would have been nice to keep him around just to see how he works out if he was healthy this year.. oh well i guess.
Well, I can't say I'm all that surprised at the Morimino cut. I would guess this pretty much guarantees that we'll be starting Shawn Murphy at G next year.
Well, if he failed his physical, that's a pretty bad sign, considering that shoulder injury was a year ago. On another note, I'm SO glad I didn't buy a Long jersey yet.
youd really buy a Jake Long jersey? Interesting. I never thought of an O-lineman being a jersey people would want to buy. but hey, thats cool!
I was a little annoyed when I saw this thread because I thought it was just another example of the new regime cutting players that were drafted last year because they were "leftovers". However if he failed a physical and as Phil said from an injury over a year ago, then I'm not so worried.
I am not suprised.I had him on my list of probable cuts. This regime did not draft him,he does not have ideal size and he spent his rookie season on IR.
They just showed Jake Long and Henne on the NFL Network.....Henne had on #7 and Long was wearing #77.
1. I love this move. Get rid of the guys who can't stay on the field. Previous regimes would have probably kept this guy on the roster a la Joe Toledo and that CB from USC whose name escapes me right now. 2. I find it amusing how obsessed some people are with jersey numbers. Just an observation. 3. This is my first post-finheaven post. Like the new digs!
Well, thats one sure fire way Long gets his # In all honesty, if he failed a physical, we needed to pass on him so its all good.
Sounds like Mormino is a Fragile Joe clone? Is it just me or is everyone more happy that Long gets his original jersey number?
OMG! Is that your car? One little correction though. Ford didn't make a Henne. They made a 429 single overhead cam semi henne, that was banned by NASCAR because it was just too awesome. I think they prototyped it in the Cougher driven by John Beck.
Welcome brother, glad you're here! NIce first post BTW. I had hopes for Mormino, but if he can't pass a physical he's just another Joe Toledo or Alibi (which one was it that kept injuring himself? Couldn't stay healthy?) and had to go. Glad the new regime isn't prone to keeping injury prone players around longer than they should, for whatever reason.
I feel the same as another poster, that the best thing about this new staff is that they don't hang on to players who don't contribute.
I even play WR and CB, and I'd love to have a Long jersey, mainly becuase he's from Michigan and I live there though.
I wish they had put that engine in the Mark IV GT and gone back to LeMans. Can you say a 275 mph Mulsanne straight?
Will Poole I think. Haha, yeah he was kept on the team for a couple seasons. Took them long enough to finally cut ties with a guy who couldn't string 3 practices together without getting hurt.
Yeah, those were the days Rev. The GT with the 427 side oiler made Enzo Ferrari pack his cars and go home in 1966. The 429 sohc was just one nasty beast!
Bet he wishes that Long would have bought his number before the cut. Then he would have a little bit of travel money...lol. Hope he lands with another team...
