I'm pretty bored so I thought I'd start this meaningless thread. What players stick out to you that were generally liked by a majority of fans, but they you personally couldn't stand? Here is a small sampling: 1) Chris Chambers. When I hear the name Chambers I either want to throw a or or . I couldn't stand his drops, lack of focus, or lack of fight for the ball. Even when he went for over 250 yards against the Bills I wanted to choke him when he dropped a couple of passes after making amazing grabs. 2) Randy McMichael - Much bigger mouth than playmaking ability. Annoyed the living hell out of me.
I didn't have a problem with him but I know a lot of people didn't want Jay Fiedler around and he certainly wasn't a total flop.
I wanted to kill a few people over at the other site.. Boy did some people HATE, and I mean hate Jay Fiedler.
Current: Joey Porter Why? - I can't stand loudmouth players who always seem to find themselves in the middle of trouble. Dishonorable mention: Smokey, Twinkle Toes All Time: Thurman Thomas Why? - He was the enemy Dishonorable mention - Bernie Kosar, Scott Mitchell
Suprised about Scott Mitchell.. Yes he sucked after he left, but I thought he carried himself well when Danny tore that achilles.
I had been in the middle of the Jay Fielder riots since they began around 91'. On the dark side as it was referred to back then..lol Nobody actually hated him, we hated that JF was the QB and wanted him replaced. There's two views to this depending on which side you're standing. My view is that many ppl went to ridiculous measures to try and protect the guy from any and all criticism. The same as they did for Wanny... But truth be told....ALL of us got carried away and we were all guilty for that crazy period on the fan forums.....personally after that mess, I check myself now when I'm in a thread to make sure I'm not helping to beat a dead horse. I'm too old for that stuff anymore...lol
Not a huge fan of Joey Thug either, as a person.....however we're paying him a kings ransom so he stays...lol And DEFF agree on Thomas.....altho it did give me a warm feeling to watch him betray the Buffalo fans;]
garo... he screwed up a 17-0 superbowl win capping a 17-0 season.. he refused to throw himself at the runner who had HIS ball like a coward which would have preserved the shutout. Thurmon is a good one Mike.. I have some memorabilia from the training camp he was at and one of the things they have us was some football cards.. I have some of his
There was a nose tackle playing around 1990 that was inactive for several games who showed up at the airport to greet the team after a loss to Buffablow either cheering for the Bills and / or holding a Bills sign to taunt the team. It was either Uhlenke or Dellenbach.
Brett Favre. I've never liked his me-first mentality. I don't like how he held press conferences to talk about his personal life. Sometimes it's better to keep things in the family. More than that, it just always seemed like he was craving more and more attention from the media. I was one of the first to call him out for his selfishness a few years ago when the rest of the world was still oblivious to his true colors. I've always seen it in him.
Yeah, I would have to echo Mike's Thurman, and Burnedknee Crowbar Didn't hate Mitchell nearly as much as I wouldve if I was a Lions fan
Growing up and being a Dolphins fan I used to love Bob Griese.Who didn't? Now that I have grown up a bit,I see the sort of person he is on TV and I just can't stand to hear or look at him anymore.Too arrogant and whatever else it is about him.OHHH,I think he was overrated also.
It really wasn't anything that he said or did, I was just a huge fan of Marino and anyone unlucky enough to be his backup was a punk IMO. I was a dumb kid.
Bob Griese might just be the most boring man alive........ I think he and Nat must have attended the Gary Carter school of sports casting..;]
Those guys are o-linemen. The guy you may be thinking about is TJ Turner or Chuck Klingbeil..but I don't remember the event you are talking about.
I LOVED Bob Griese growing up..even had a poster of him(hard to believe) Yet when you grow up a bit and see and hear things about him at times...they are not so flattering. Hate when your heroes growing up are not what they seem. I know he did not last long in a Dolphin Uniform but I hated CRIS CARTER-UGH THURMAN THOMAS-How could you root for him? RAY LUCAS- Don't know if he does not qualify as a flop..but when Fiedler went down--he was GOD awful
Well, it was a Center then because I remember the name was one of those two. I'm thinking it was Dellenbach. And it could have been anywhere from 90 to 93.
Good one.. Chris Carter.. That bastard.. If he doesn't drop that TD pass against the Vikings we would have won the division and the NE heartbreaker wouldn't have counted.. Ray Lucas... I said players that were relatively liked... EVERYONE HATES THAT DIRTY SOB!!!! I'll add another to the list.. Trace Armstrong.. Yes he sacked Flutie Flakes in the playoffs, and yes he was a nice guy.. I just didn't like him. Can't tell you why.
To those of you hating on Thurman.. Thurman was the most dynamic player on that Bufallo team. I respect Thomas and was glad the Phins picked him up. The guy always played with class.. We have never had a RB that was the complete package like Thurman was. I think some of you are jealous
Why oh why would you remind me about that dropped pass by Cris Carter?!?!..I was going to give you a Thank You but now you lost it..lol Trace Armstrong I liked..he was productive and worked hard I just thought of a name!..I don't know why...but I could not stand..HATED..HATED Travis Daniels and that absurd "incomplete" sign he used to do after he just grabbed a reciever or got a costly penalty. Some people just rub you the wrong way..he was most def one!
Owwwwww.... Just had a very bad flashback................ Think lateral. Think drops. I bring you............................ The one and only. The TE that could wow you one second and make you suicidal the next.... Keith Jackson
Wes Welker. Saying he wished he was on the opposing teams sideline when playing against the Pats made me hate him. Seriously he can go **** himself.
Another meathead- Louis Oliver.. Even though he did make Boomer crap his pants once at the goal line.
I don't get the Welker hate. He was the only player on offense to show up week in and week out during a pathetic season... And please keep the rules, the question pertains towards feelings you had while they were playing on the team.. Not after
I'll open up another can of worms. I admired Joe Robbie for building the stadium, but I hated him as an owner at times.. It was rare to get the rooks in camp early with all the holdouts during the Robbie years.. Very annoying.
There was a local joke going around after he died. Something about his funeral being blacked out...lol I think most of us fans back then felt the way u just described. But in hindsight, I have more respect for him now. When you compare his days with those of Huizenga, Old Joe looks like a hall of famer. JS
Man marty, Garo epitomized that kickers are not football players. And that goof of his illustrated why.
