thinking about it. Well.....its definite. Just gunna do it right, save correctly, and finding the area is important.
I am from the Wellington area. That was too expensive when i moved to NC, and it is still....too expensive.
Good thing is i am very familiar with the south florida area. My wife and i have family in west palm, and friends scattered throughout.
Wellington/Royal palm is pretty much out of the question, enless we find a 2 bed room around 850/month (doubt it)
Anyways, this question is really for hardkore, the mor, mindwarp, finsane, and all the others more south of west palm.
I worked in miami, and know parts of the areas......im just asking where are decent areas in between miami and west palm?
coconut creek? ft lauderdale? pompano?
Where can i find decent prices on rentals, without needing to lock my door with 70 locks because of bad news?
i know its everywhere, i am familiar with the area like stated before....but within a 10 mile radius is the difference between wellington (good area) and palm springs/greenacres (not so much)
So the people there on a daily basis can help me with that........thanks in advanced!!!

South Florida has been hit hard by the subprime crisis. You can find anything anywhere at any reasonable price in this housing market right now. Pick your neighborhood, you’ll likely find something.

Just the usual realtor companies, I guess.

Don't move south.........you know the WPB credo "it's bad enough here, why would we wanna go down there?" :shifty:
Give me some time and I'll look into what the current rates are for out west and the better areas in town. Like Des said, prices have taken a dive. And not only that, houses are sitting empty like never before. Owners are willing to make it VERY easy for you to move in, with very little down. -

Glad to hear you're moving back dude, the gf and I need a babysitter.
Seriously though, I don't think you can go wrong with Lauderhill, Tamarac or Plantation. I live in Tamarac, Mor lived there for a short time before moving to plantation.
I won't lie to you, nothing down here is cheap, as you probably know. But there are nice condos for rent for around 1000-1200 a month. Tamarac has quite a few of them. Virtually crime-free as well, unlike some parts of Ft. Lauderdale. -
as for baby sitting. I charge $50/hour.......and ill ask to please NOT do a backround check......stupid stuff from college, and stuff they found on my computer hard drive......nothing to worry about...jetssuck, Frumundah Finnatic, eric and 3 others like this. -

They also are accepting Section 8 in a lot of condo complexes now (including mine) so now that I think of it Chris, you might wanna bring 2 or 3 of those locks :lol:SICK likes this. -
You're just unfortunate to live in another got damned planet over there in that over-populated cesspool of New York/New Jersey... :tongue2: -

You know, with all the roster turnover on the Dolphins and Marlins, maybe you can buy cheap off Jerod Mastrud, or eventually Dan Uggla. :shifty:

There are people who thought this same way 3-5 years ago, and are walking away now. Of course, it doesn't help that every Realtor has been saying prices won't go any lower for that last half-decade, but that's their job.
We haven't seen rock-bottom yet IMO. I think renting is the way to go.FinSane, jetssuck, texasPHINSfan and 1 other person like this. -

SICK i'd figure out which area you & the missus would rather live more than what is cheapest; you could be a king in Liberty city or live pretty frugal in Plantation. I'd rather live quite frugal in Plantation, honestly.
Congrats on the decision to move back though man :knucks:SICK likes this. -

3-5 years ago was the bubble inflating. it has already popped and home prices are back to about where they were before. they may still go down a little more but i dont expect them to be falling anymore after a year from now. and intrest rates probably wont be this low later.
i agree we MIGHT not be at rock bottom yet, but nobody knows for sure untill they miss it and get in after an upswing. but right now is definately not the same as 3-5 years ago. -
Problem with FL is that despite being expensive nearly everywhere compared to other places, it remains one of the lowest-wage states.
It's a hard-to-sustain reality; you pretty much have accept a lower standard of living than most other places because of that discrepancy, unless you go there with a good job to begin with. -
