Just a heads up for those who use Firefox. I made the switch thanks to some people on this forum who wouldnt stop talking about it, and I've been much happier with it than I was with IE.

Yeah, I'm thinking of switching as well. IE is a pain and AOL isn't much better, so I guess I'll be joining that 18% tomorrow.

Mozilla is the fastest internet I have ever had. I like it a lot and theres a feature that you can use where everytime you close it, it saves where you left off so you can just pick up the next day. Definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the heads up Don.

I don't think so. If memory serves, when they updated to Firefox 2 Firefox 1 would just update itself to newer versions of 1.

I'm sure there are will be a link to update on their site. All there is right now is a link to download the 3.0 test release.

Web browsers aren't the Internet. So, uh... huh?

If you have Firefox 2, you should receive an automatic update notification within 24 hours of Firefox 3's release--that is to say, Wednesday. But you can always download the stand-alone installer at mozilla.com when it comes out tomorrow. Automatic updates are always behind the downloadable release just by their nature.

Well, Firefox 2 is hardly fast at anything. They had a design philosophy of implementing caching throughout the browser, and it just led to more memory usage while netting few performance benefits. They threw a lot of that out with Firefox 3.

I think you'll be very surprised at how snappy Firefox 3 is. (Though I wonder how it'll stack up to Safari's new Javascript engine.)

I've been running 3 for awhile now. It is pretty fast, and quite smart.

I'd run Bon Echo and Deer Park at various times in the past. Used to be into that bleeding edge stuff.

OT: Firefox accounts for 42% of our traffic.

Pretty cool stat for a non-techie site. :)

I like Firefox but it sucks as far as displaying my gifs so I am still using IE for that and Firefox to browse as it picks up much less spyware.

I hope this new version corrects the gif problem

I'm running a custom-compiled version. Does that count as bleeding edge?

Crunch, what kind of GIF problems are you having? Your GIFs always displayed fine for me.
