And keep Sparano til the end of the season, don't let some fans get to you in this situation, you said things this offseason to Sparano that will make you look like liar if you let him go at any point this season..Keep the man, let him coach the team til the end, shake his hand, and let him go..You will gain respect amongst football people and coaches around the league, you need to let it play out to repair your image, and no matter what people think of Sparano, give him his dignity, he deserves that much.

He has dignity. You heard his presser. You can't give him what he already has. He's a good man who for any number of reasons could not get the job done. Replacing him is not capital punishment. It's a business decision. I'm betting that Ross lets him finish the season, if for no other reason because there's no viable better alternative until the season ends.

He's 0-6. He deserves NOTHING. He's lucky to have the golden parachute he earned after the botched Harbaugh attempt last year.
That being said, I agree about keeping him. Just for different reasons. He's good at sucking.dolfan32323 likes this. -

I don't think this has anything to do with "ethics" per se. Firing a poor performing employee sooner rather than later isn't an unethical decision. Just as players are cut before their contracts are up, I'd think coaches are subject to the same. While keeping Sparano may be the "noble" thing to do.....there aren't too many billionaires and millionaires who got where they are in this world by being "noble". In most cases its downright the opposite.
In fact, I'm so sick of being noble that I think its held the organization back. All we draft is boy scouts, team leaders, internatioanl thespians and upstanding citizens. It doesn't translate into catching the ball. We drafted entire families of nobility and they didn't pan out. We drafted the seed of Brigham Young, he didn't work out. We drafted a standup QB out of Michigan, didn't get us anywhere. Lets just draft the best damn ballplayer already.dolfan32323 likes this. -
There are no thespians on this team. They're all straight men.

Many would say the ethical thing to do would be to fire Sparano now, to stop the charade and let him leave with some sanity remaining

I don't think it's as simple as just keeping Sparano on because 'it's the right thing to do'. At this point, Sparano somehow still has the players. If the time comes that he loses the locker room, then Ross has to consider letting him go. The real issue is that while Nolan probably has the most experience to act as interim HC on the staff, his unit is under-performing even worse than the Offense at this point and that's without our #1 QB... It's quite a quandary that Ross is in. He promised to keep the guy on, but things have gone about as badly as they can go. However, Ross is the reason for this whole situation with his jaunt to California last January...
I feel for TS the man because losing your job, even in the pro ranks is never a fun thing but something may have to be done before the season ends... -
-
If Miami goes with an interim guy, then it should be Todd Bowles, IMO.
The thing is, despite what some want to think, Tony has not lost this locker room yet. It may come, but the players do enjoy playing for him. It's Jeff Ireland who the players hate. -

Nothing to do with dignity at this point. The real matter is there is noone on this staff you could replace him with.

Ethically, that's not even remotely close to the right decision. The worse this franchise does the more people completely unrelated to the actual on the field product within the organization will be fired.

Now if you ask me if the fans have lost this regime...that's a given... And that may lead some to believe that the players no longer are playing at their best...even if it's just that they aren't playing well or playing the schemes well...

It's a tough thing to put Sparano, the fans, and the team through this for an entire season. I think Ross has to do something. Either make an announcement that Sparano will finish this season, regardless of what happens, or let him go... gracefully. Perhaps Ross made a deal with him, and he will officially let him go when a winning season is mathematically out of reach. No one really knows but Ross and Sparano.
However, I do want to say that I have a lot of respect for Sparano the man. The way some people are talking about him is just plain s**tty, IMHO. He came up short as a winning head coach, but the guy has done nothing less than given this team his best.dolphindebby likes this. -
Maybe I'm a dick, but I don't feel sorry for him one bit. -
Its as simple as that. -

Ross OWNS the team and there will absolutely, one hundred percent positively, be people in the NFL circles interested in coming here to RUN his team for him. -

Its being reported as ''official'' bu Lebatard that Ross has contacted Cowher's agent..

He wouldn't do this without knowing first how cowher thinks?, right..I mean he knows what cowher is gonna say cause he already said it, there must be somethin up here. -
Tony's gone very soon. Now I think he won't last the season so Ross and Cowher can talk. There goes ethics.

So I say well done Mr. Ross for standing by your employees even though you didn't hire them in the first place! -
