Features - NFL pro football articles and coverage from Pro Football Weekly Even if the Dolphins go from rock bottom to the top, it’s unlikely that Pennington will win MVP. His 14-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio is impressive, but it’s not the stuff that catches the eye of voters. He's tied with Washington's Jason Campbell for the fewest interceptions of any quarterback to make more than nine starts, but there will be no awards for that. Pennington is no superstar. He is, though, the player who helped orchestrate perhaps the greatest turnaround in a single year for any NFL franchise. That might not get him the MVP, but it certainly ought to get him serious consideration.
how good does that sound.. "after losing our first 2, we have won 9 of the past 12 games"... man, thats sweet music to my ears!
I always look at it like this. Which player if you take them off the team changes the dynamic the most. Pennington definitely should pull some votes on that criteria alone even if his stats aren't as mind boggling as some others.
Its hard to argue with the leadership and stability that Pennington has helped bring to a team that was so bad just one year ago. At one time it was hard to comprehend Miami ever having a good leader and a steadying influence at QB again.
I was just about to make a thread on Pennington being considered for MVP. He may not have the stats, true, but he's possibly the most important player on the team and is one of the main reasons we have had a winning season!
