As much as I don't like the situation, at this juncture, Stills is probably the most important piece of the WR corps right now. Give him a 3-year contract now.

Stills is a deep threat ONLY, he isnt even as complete a WR as Mike Wallace was. He will not get franchised, not at all.

 

While I agree that Stills shouldn't be franchised, Wallace was only a "speed" threat. Stills is actual "deep" threat and balled this season. If only he hadn't muffed that 70 yard bomb against Seattle. /sighs

Anyway, we should still sign him.

 

I never said he would/should get franchised. I just think in this dynamic (as it stands) and at this juncture (I'm assuming he's the only FA from the group consisting of him, Landry, Parker), he should be locked up. I thought I saw more underneath routes from him later. The reason it likely opened up for him is because of the deep possibility.

And the nine TDs or so shouldn't be ignored. I just think he opens up more of the underneath and intermediate stuff for Landry and Parker.

By no means am I saying he's a "great" wideout. I think he has the knack to get stupid open. His hands are suspect, and I think his routes aren't great. On those underneath catches, he looked so out of place. I'd still rather have Richard Matthews.

In saying that, this system works for him. It works for Miami. Those TDs cannot be ignored because who takes up his slack? Landry ain't. Parker could, but he still doesn't surpass that TD mark by much, if at all.

I like Stills, but I don't know anyone currently on the team who could take his spot. Or even a FA who could without breaking the bank. All fingers point at him wanting to stay. No way would I draft one. Just my opinion. Miami has more pressing needs. I can only imagine how much better this offense would look with another year with these guys.

I just don't know who could take his place right now who's on the team. I'd really like to keep him because he really adds something good to the offense. I just don't want Miami breaking the bank for him. I think the best thing that could've happened was his yards were down. Could be bargaining chips for Miami. I just can't ignore the TDs, though.

 

Mike had a great year with Ryan running mostly intermediate routes. Stills is young so he may develop that, but as of now he is just a very VERY good deep threat.

 

I think Vance might remain DC. He left Denver without a contract. Maybe they flaked on him? Seems like Shanahan may be the front runner now.

I think if Caroo can get the offense down, he could play a bigger role on third downs. Maybe in like a slot role?

I would go: DE, LB, OG, TE, DB, then OT

1. Who will be franchised? Kenny Stills? At $14 mil for the WR tag? I hope not. I'd be happy of they could get him for $8/yr on a three year deal or something.

2. What role does Leonte Carroo play? Depth at WR.

3. Will Miami lock up Landry this season? I'd be happy to see it happen. Better now if he'll take a bit less versus playing out his rookie contract.

4. Who will be the new DC? Not sure Vance is actually gone, as Denver does not seem to have kept him from leaving town. If he does go, I'd throw out a name like Gus Bradley.

5. What is Miami's hierarchy in needs between OG, OT, TE, DE, LB and DB? Most critical need is a real MLB. Then DE and OG. Any other improved position is a bonus. And what strategy do they go about addressing? Get two of the biggest needs in free agency, then the draft, and then see who gets cut by other teams.

 

Even with comp picks we will have no extra ammo.We gave up our 3 and 4th rd for carroo.

 

My number 1 question is 'can we trust Mike Tannenbaum' to deliver a great draft and get FA's we need?

 

Yea I know, I was saying it would be nice to have those extra picks now, especially if we wanted to move up in the 1st for a Rueben Foster or Cunningham. I disliked the Carroo trade the moment it happened.
