Last night my aunt passed away from lung cancer. She had been fighting it through surgery and chemo for the past year. But at least she left in her sleep and I hope she's finally found relief after her hard struggles. The eldest of my dad's siblings, she really kept the entire family of 5 siblings, 4 children, 20 nieces and nephews as well as their own in-laws, and 9 grandchildren together which is quite a tremendous feat. In addition, she took it upon herself to provide for her siblings when they became orphaned during post WWII China. My dad thought of her as a 2nd mother and she played a pivotal role in helping my dad find education opportunities in Sussex and later Berkeley. I remember when my dad passed away himself last year of kidney cancer, she was very heartbroken. All of this really comes to no surprise because she was always a very strong yet caring person. I guess in a sense, karma really came in because she led a very peaceful and fulfilling life here in America. I will definitely miss her and I loved spending time at her house with the whole family. Even people as strong as a rock like her have to leave us but we will always be better because of them. That people are flying in all the way from Queens, Michigan, Arizona, Texas, Seattle, Colorado, Toronto, Vancouver, the UK, and China to SF is a true testament to that. Anyways, I hope you'll keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers through these sad times.

Regan, I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. Not only will I keep her family in my thoughts, but yours as well. Death is imminent, no matter what, but it never gets any easier. Your relief now will be that you have fond memories of her to share, and those will be what gives you peace in your time of grief. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
sorry Reagan, you, and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Alen is right brother, she still lives through you.
Sorry to hear that brother and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this tough time. Just keep the memories close to you at all times, remember her when you are happy as well as when you're down. And know that she's in a better place looking down on you and smiling. You have a great support network here if you need it, don't hesitate to contact us if you need to talk or vent. That's what we're here for, you're a part of the family and your loss is our loss. Blessings and peace to you and your family know. May your aunt rest in peace. You know where to find me if you need me. GB
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It really means a lot. I'll be in San Jose over the weekend for the funeral and interment. Haven't figured out yet where to stay and how to get there, either by plane or car. But my gf lives in the area so she's helping out as well even though she's still at UCLA. I guess if people can make it short notice across the Atlantic, I can figure something out.
