I watched highlights of Washington and it seemed like a no brained to me if he was available…and he was! Not that Smith is a BAD pick, but CB was not a NEED. I said Grier needed to be a sniper in this draft and with this bullet, he missed the target.
Well, he has experience playing multiple positions. Plus, beyond Ramsay and Howard, I don't think we have much.
The AFC playoffs will probably include many of the following teams - Chiefs, Bengals, Chargers, Bills, Jets, and Jags. They're all passing teams. Yes, we are gonna need corners.
Chris Grier's kid plays for South Carolina - he's gotten a ton of scouting on this kid. Not complaining, it was the weak link of our defense last year and despite adding Ramsey it was still a bit iffy. Lots of depth guys and dudes either coming back from or prone to injury. I'd prefer a RT, but still round 3 and continued free agency. We HAVE to get some kind of legit competition for Jackson if not a straight upgrade. But ... it's a weak overall draft and some of the guys left have some big questions.
How injured was our corner room at large parts for last season? X played with no hamstring for what felt like half the season. Needham's ACL went. Trill Williams did his ACL as well didn't he? I wouldn't be shocked if Fangio had no faith in what we had at the position hence the moves we've made so far.
