Every year I get caught up in the Combine and Pro Day results. This year I decided to just look at the numbers and try to watch as much college ball as I could.

So the following is a mock draft based mostly on performance in college. The stats listed for each player are their combined numbers for 2007 and 2008.

I stopped my mock after round 5 because I've always felt towards the end of the draft teams should stick to picking the Best Player Available.

    Flame On, NSR!

    1. Alphonso Smith - CB - Wake Forest
15 Ints., 23 Passes Broken Up, 38 Passes Defended
*Undersized, but a straight up baller.

    2a. Clint Sintim - OLB - Virginia

    147 Tkl’s, 20 Sacks, 22 TFL
*Not the fastest or best in coverage, but a pass rush specialist most
    experienced with our style offense.

    2b. Chase Coffman - TE - Missouri
    142 Rec’s., 1,518 Yds, 10.6 YPC, 17 TD’s
*Needs to work on strength and blocking, but has incredible hands with
a big body and is a bigtime red-zone threat.

    3. Jarret Dillard - WR - Rice
    166 Rec’s, 2367 Yds, 14.3 YPC, 34 TD’s
*Undersized, not great timed speed, but can cut and stop on a
dime. Amazing hands with a redonkulous vertical jump.

    4. Scott McKillop - ILB - Pittsburgh

    288 Tkl’s, 7 Sacks, 28 TFL, 11 PBU, 3 Ints.
*OK speed and not the best athlete, but this guy is a tackling machine
who just seems to always be in the right spot. Incredibly smart with a
giant heart (not the kind we should be concerned about medically, but
the kind that made Zach Thomas a legend).

    5. Roy Miller - DT - Texas
    89 Tkl’s, 6.5 Sacks, 19 TFL
*Not the ideal height for a 3-4 NT, but possesses hulkish strength, a
non-stop motor and plays with great leverage...NAS-TAY.
