    Sooo...yeah...

Just got off the phone with her and she was a victim of not really downsizing but more like business model changing I guess....

She was an executive assistant/paralegal for a bankruptcy attorney who now says she wants to go into some other area of law and wants to hire someone with experience in that facet of law...

She wasn't really fired per se since she was given the option to stay but at a MUCH reduced salary (OVER 50%)...and my wife says no way...especially since she sees that they'll make her work the same hours, same job basically for A LOT less...

I told her to try and stick it out until we find something else but she refuses...

    Sooooo...yeah...

Its going to be a longggg night trying to figure how we are going to make it on me alone with 2 kids....

I can relate. One of the things that drove me out of Miami was my boss giving the promotion I sought to someone I had to teach. However, I've gone for three years without full-time work.

Sorry to hear that Mage. Its the trickle down affect of a bad economy. Often times we (meaning the small people) do not feel it until a year or so later. We are now in that year or so period...

The key is to keep working by any means possible though. With the way it is, you cannot be too proud to take a job that you feel is "beneath" you. Sorry again Mage.

That is rough my friend, I know what it is like to have one spouse out of work with 2 kids. The best advise I can give you is have faith in the Lord and I will keep you in my prayers.

sorry to hear bro. I was in the unemployed position for about a year so Im sure she will bounce back. Just keep her head up and buy her a little something to keep her in good spirits while her job search starts. A lot of times people take this stuff personally, and I know I did when they get laid off or asked to stay at a reduced salary. When I was in advertising for about a year there was a lot of stuff I beat myself up over and later on just realized it was the job that made me unhappy. So eventually she will find her niche and get back on her feet. Just keep scouring the want ads and websites....:)

Sorry to hear that bro ... on the bright side this might initiate a sea change in your life that otherwise would not have been possible. I lost my job a few years ago, and at the end of the day, I can honestly say it's the best thing that happened to me. Know that probably doesn't help you now, but try to stay strong man. You guys will get through it.

    Thanks A Lot Everyone

    Wow...

Thanks a lot for sooo much support my brothers and sisters

I am not surprised though as this family here is beyond awesome and supportive even though we've never met in person.

I am going to show my wife this thread right now to get her spirits up.

    Thanks so much again fellas...

I really wish it was an April fools joke...I actually had totally forgot about that until you mentioned it Ultra...

Sadly though...its as real as it gets...

Dude that is what this site is about! :hi5:

I dont know if you saw the business networking forum on this site (scroll down) but throw an fyi in there. You never know. If you were in NY instead of miami Id probably foward this to my sis since shes in law (like a few of my family members and friends) and see if she could help but thatd be pretty useless in this instance.... :wink2:

sorry to hear that, hope all turns out well.

just a thought, but with things the way they are with gas prices, crunch the numbers, and see what expenditures you will no longer have with her not working, like 20 days a month of paying for lunch out (if she goes out to lunch daily), and maybe y'all can manage her staying home for awhile, especially if the kids are young.

    it could be a win/win.

whatever happens, i wish you and yours the very best...
