I dunno what happened... I finished getting the new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Wii. Got with TheStern to put in some good Co-op CC gaming online. Then my Wii wouldn't turn on. Not even a dim light when it's off. Ii didn't even notice when it went off. It was working Saturday for sure though. I'm hoping it's just a bad power brick.
I sell restaurant equipment, you'd be surprised how many people call about a problem that can be resolved by simply plugging the unit in, or turning the gas valve 'on' etc, etc. But yeah, with you, I was being a wiseass.
kidding aside, did you try unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in? This has happened to my wii after a storm before and then after i did that it works fine.
Bro, same thing happened to the first Wii I owned. Tried other power bricks, outlets, tv's, everything, it just wouldn't turn on. My 2nd Wii all of the suddern wouldn't turn on either, btu after plugging it into another outlet and tv (different room), it worked. Try doing that.
Bad news. If you do need a new Wii, hopefully your optical drive is o.k., and you can just slap it into your new Wii... (because you're sentimental about that particular drive, right?)
it's worse than that.... Wit the Wii I had to chip the board. So no... Bot so simple. I would have to end up buying a new one. Crud.
Never had any problem like this. But I do get spots on my screen only while playing the Wii. Anybody else have this problem? Not to hijack the thread or anything...
You're right, I worded it wrong. I was hinting at the fact that you should be able to swap out the optical drive BOARD you modded with the new one, it's just one ribbon cable... I believe all Wii motherboards are the same, I think they (Nintendo) have only made changes to the optical drive chipsets, so you should be able to swap boards and resume business as usual. The real bummer is potentially losing all your save data.
It's kind of a headscratcher to me that with the mass sales of the Wii, Nintendo ends up getting an exclusive GTA title & a brand new Zelda...for the DS. Feed the Wii!
I can confirm it will work! (assuming that your modded drive is still good) You'll actually have to swap the entire drive, and it's actually 2 ribbon cables. Highlighted in yellow in the picture below.
i worked for a guy who once called the a/c repairman cause the a/c didnt work for like 3 days in the middle of august, turned out the master switch was off outside. Funniest 150.00 i've even seen spent.
i bought a replacement power brick from Gamestop. It was a Gamestop brand brick. And it worked. My Wii = fixed.
Hell of a lot cheaper (and easier) than buying a new Wii and swapping the optical drive! Sweet! Glad to hear you made out in the end.
