Not sure if the subject has been brought up in the board before but here goes. Does anyone else realize that in 17 of the last 25 national championship games has included either Miami, Florida or FSU? Out of the 17 times one of the Big 3 has walked away as national champs in 10 of those games. Miami in 83, 87, 89, 91 and 01. FSU in 93 and 99. Florida in 96, 06 and 07. That folks is a direct reflection of just how much talent comes from Florida High Schools and dare I say would make it the best talent anywhere in the U.S. including Texas and California.
There is so much talent in Florida that even some of the smaller universities like South Florida,UCF,FAU can stock up on some quality players . And many of the top programs outside the state like Ohio ST,Notre Dame,Alabama,LSU also do well recruiting in Florida .
Agreed, that is just an amazing stat to me to have one of our top schools in the state to atleast be playing for the National Championship 68% of the time in the past 25 years. Most schools would be happy to make it once every 10 or 15 years, but 68% of the time? Wow.
I thought there were multiple times in the past 25 years where there was not a "true" NC game, and that was why they agreed in the BCS in the first place? (bowl coalition and bowl alliance I mean)
That's true. It was an attempt to have a true championship while still avoiding a playoff. Then the govt. threatened to bring an anti-trust violation against the NCAA so they added the at-large bids. They wouldn't go as far as making it fair for everyone but they did enough to stave off the anti-trust suit.
A lot of schools just recognized the AP poll as the official one. At least prior to the BCS being formed. I assume the OP is doing the same thing.
