Myself I loved this quote from the writer: ...."And if you happen to nail Wes Welker again in the process, well, that'll make it all worthwhile.".....
Im starting to think making this move would benefit our team in alot of ways and i really hope it gets done soon.
I am not too familiar with Pitts personnel, but I am pretty sure that Palomalu (probably butchered the spelling) is the free safety over there and Clark would have been the strong safety. If this was the case aren't we making the same mistake we made last year with Wilson. Bell is already our SS and adding Clark as a back up or trying to switch him to FS would put us back in the same boat wouldn't it? Perhaps someone who is more familiar with the Steelers could help me out in understanding exactly the kind of player Clark is and if he could be a FS. I for some reason remember him being more of the "head hunter" run supporter rather than the coverage "center fielder" type that we need.
Polamalu plays SS and Clarke was FS. See for yourself here: http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/depthchart?team=PIT
Gotta love the lone commenter. Claims the author is "WRONG!", then explains he quoted the wrong line in the next post. The intended quote basically says the same thing as his counter-point. Brilliant.
Thanks for the help on this one. It seems like everyone is pretty sold on this guy and believe he will really upgrade our secondary. As long as he doesn't swatted away like a fly trying to tackle Dallas Clark or play pattycake with Shockey for 30 yards or completely whiff on Reggie Bush on their way to the endzone then I'll be happy.
I heard this was bunk. They scratched him for precautionary reasons even though the team doctors cleared him to play against Denver last year.
He was a part time player those first 2 years. I look at it that he had 8 INT's in 4 of his last 5 years. That 1 year he was out for most of the season.
You have to also think about the fact that Polamalu is like a modified FS, that guy is a freaking beast. I've watched plays where he pulls to onc side of the field pre-snap, and ends up disrupting the pass on the opposite side of the field. You have to discount his low int count somewhat with the fact that he's got a freaking ballhawk monster in front of him. on most snaps.
I like Ryan Clark, but I would be furious if they sign him and Berry falls to us and they don't pick him because of it.
the FrontOffice knows best & if they don't coach Nolan will keep them on the straight & narrow defensively not to worry, our bases are covered
....and without those parts might still be better than the guy he's replacing. and no,I'm not in lust or a basher of GW. I want WINS
I agree with you,but if McClain is still there I would take him first. We need a tandem at LB IMO.The rest will come...
