It’s every drinker’s dream to be able to go out and have lots of fun without getting drunk and having the suffer the dreaded hangover effects the next morning. Over the years, drinkers have tried everything from consuming milk, orange juice, Gatorade, crackers and headache pills to reduce the nasty effects from the night before.
The Chinese however have been using extracts from their variation of the oriental raisin tree with very good results. Now scientists at the University of California in Los Angeles have been able to isolate a component of the extract called dihydromyricetin (DHM). DHM works by preventing alcohol from having the usual effects on bodies, no matter how much is in the blood stream.
So far tests have only been conducted on lab rats, but with stunning success. Rats boozed up on the equivalent of a human drinking 15 to 20 beers in 2 hours were put to lie on their backs. It took them an average of 1 hour and 10 minutes to get back onto their feet. The rodents injected with DHM were able to get onto their feet in just 5 minutes.
