I thought i was clear. Qb? Deep defensive draft. So we should be able to get good defense with all the other picks?

If we're talking immediate starter, it would have to be Hebert if he comes out....or maybe Drew Lock. If we're talking prospect, 6 foot 7, 245 pound Tyree Jackson would work for me.

I'm talking about first round. You guys think Lock or Hebert are the caliber you want out of your first round pick?

Admittedly I don't know much about them, but I haven't seen much that tells me we should sell the farm to get them. We SHOULD have grabbed a QB this past draft.

Well, we did grab Gase's favorite last draft in a roundabout way...really hoping Falk develops. I don't know much about college ball either though and just watched some highlight reels. Everything I read said Hebert is the only awesome prospect this season- who knows if it's true though. There were a few others the scouts were real high on and then laid off them this year due to bad seasons.

Jackson is the mold of Cam Newton and can throw/run, so that would be my choice since those types of guys are so fun to watch. That's why I'm not an NFL coach though! =)

Cannot find any info on Falk. I am assuming he is still a part of the team. Let Fales play against Buffalo we have nothing to lose.

FYI: Falk is on inured/reserve list and Gase said today that Tannehill will start against Buffalo.

I dont sell the farm either. So i agree. But i keep hearing that the new qbs all suck. So one should fall to us where we sit? Then fill other team needs. Just my idea. As I’m not wanting tannehill again. If the pick is wrong. Then try for a qb again in 2020.

I live in Washington state. Falk is a long shot to be as good as tanny.

The guy finally got one sack for the year on one of the worst lines in the league..Time to lock him into a long term contract!

Just watched Case Keenum on a drive HE kept alive on a 3rd down play with his legs, recognize a blitz, change the play, and execute it perfectly for a TD.

When Case Keenum gives you the feeling of envy?? You should likely root for a better QB.

I mostly remember watching a defensive line that was close to getting a hit or sack or make the quarterback move, only to have the quarterback throw the ball to someone who was wide open. Even the best pass rushers would get practically zero sacks in this defense. Once the offenses found out how to attack the defense quickly, they never adjusted.

Not wicha' DD. The DEs were terrible. The opposing QBs, at times, had all day and even if they got close, they rarely got there when it counted. There was no threat,
.....and I said DEs, Didn't say anything about the interior guys. At the beginning of the season, I was pleasantly surprised with how the interior guys were playing. The injury bug hit them and it all went to s--t.

The problem is the pick would have to be DISASTROUSLY bad to give up on a first round QB after one year.

If the pick is that bad it's a waste from the start. I'd rather have a player like Minkah or Tunsil that can contribute long term.

If the rumors are true and RT is let go we have Osweiler as a starter. I would then assume Fales would be the backup. With the QB situation in the draft would we take Lock with our first round? Or would another team reach for him before us? If we at least give this kid a chance maybe the QB situation could be resolved. I know it's a longshot he starts but our options are pretty limited unless we go with a veteran and who would that be?

Okay...now hear me out on this.

I think with a full training camp and season under his belt, Osweiler would be an alright stop-gap for a season if you REALLY want Tannehill gone.

I know you guys want a new QB but it isn't as easy as just sign or draft someone.

With Osweiler there are only two possibilities for a season and neither is bad.

    1) He's awful and now in 2020 you have a chance at a real QB.

    2) He's amazing in the system and you have a QB.

I guess there is also the possibility he's entirely mediocre but honestly thats more than likely what you're getting out of any drafted or FA QB this year.

everyone wants to talk QB but we are not addressing the real problem. the OL, it has been a problem has been for years just look at the last two games. whoever is at QB would look bad with the little time they are given. also the lack of opening consistent holes for running backs. even when we get a good lineman he gets hurt then we back to some other teams leftover. I think behind a good OL RT could do as good as anyone. Just my opinion.

Well we have a decent line if healthy. I think we have our tackles set for a while, we could use a veteran center and maybe draft a guard round 2 or 3.

I don't think many fans would tolerate a year with Osweiler at the helm. It just doesn't make for exciting and winning football. He has too many limitations and defenses would have a field day.

I hear ya, but every year we look at our team and say the same thing and yet we get the same results. Nothing. We tell ourselves that we have good enough players on our OL so we can draft BPA in the draft. Instead of putting a bandade on the problem, we need to suck it up and address it head on. It takes a while for OL to gel, so why not draft some young studs, so they can build some chemistry together over the years? If we keep bringing in these old injury prone guys, we are gonna get what we have been getting, an OL that can't run block or pass protect. And, we know how well that hasn't been working for us.

Being realistic though, there aren't many options. I keep reading posts and it feels like people think any change will be an upgrade...but who is out there?

None of these QB would go in the first other years and the realistic FA is Bridgewater who might not even be an upgrade to Osweiler.

Sometimes it has more to do with chemistry than talent. We know the Gase/Osweiler team can't get it done, but we don't know if the Gase/Bridgewater team can or not. Our team isn't good enough to stick with the status que. We need to inject some energy into a depleted franchise and fanbase and the only way we can do that is to think outside the box. Sticking to the way we handle our business is only going to lead to the same thing. The arrow pointing down. We need something to energize everybody and get the arrow pointing up.

Nick Foles is about the only outside option I see if we're taking a "win now" mentality. He's going to come with a very healthy price tag as well though and we still have to unload Tannehill. Someone will vastly overpay for Foles and I'm not sure if it should be us.

SF probably won't want to trade until they are sure Jimmy is healthy again (ala Foles). If they do trade, its because of an overwhelming offer and no thanks to that.

Starting Assweiler is an admission that 2019 is a full on tank job. He is not a mystery or unknown quantity waiting to be unleashed, hes terrible. He is the guy the Texans gave up a pick to be rid of. Hes a body, nothing else.

Foles and Teddy represent the only realistic "win now" type options bit both are way way far from a guarantee. Flacco and Eli are probably THill level QB play.

Nobody else is worth mentioning really.

If you want a bit of out of the box thinking you maybe see if the Eagles might keep Foles and deal Wentz. Alternately, see if Carr can be pried out of Oakland. Neither are likely. Detroit is also getting tired of Stafford, but hes basically THill with better stats and a bigger contract.

Maybe the Titans do tire of Marcus, but again, hes basically THill with legs.

Hard to project much until we know who declares in the draft (I think Herbert and Haskins could be legit guys), what our coaching staff will be, etc.

Ultimately, I am for just cutting the cord regardless. Even if it's a 2 year reloading plan, get THill out so we can move on.

We don't know that. We know that Gase + Osweiler - three oline and three receivers can't get it done.

From what I read today, we did go after him and Tannenbaum botched it last year. Teddy wanted to come to Miami, we put a contract in his hands, and they couldn't come to terms over little stuff that we should have just conceded to given the circumstances. He ended up signing elsewhere when we were his 1st choice...ponder that a moment or two.

Probably one of the reasons he’s fired..

Let’s get him back, he’s able to sign anywhere he wants and he wants to be a dolphin.

Teddy is a point guard with his arm, who adds some off script playmaking ability, exactly what we’ve been missing for 7 years..

I haven't watched him enough to have a real opinion- the game film I watched showed a very mobile QB with good touch and a lot of patience. I also noticed, however, that he had excellent protection on all his highlight reels with 4-6 seconds to throw on occasions. He still came out with a 87 QBR average for his career so that makes me kind of nervous.

He is EXACTLY the type of QB I love watching though, so I'd love to get him on the roster anyway. I'm not sure if he's a better gamble over Tyree Jackson though.
