hmmm... another receiver... that's the one position I didn't think we'd add to but I guess with Marion going down they wanted to add some fresh legs.
Omar reports Robinson ran a 4.29 at his Fins tryout, which got him signed [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiTtA8Vvs4A"]YouTube - Kerry Joseph touchdown pass to James Robinson[/ame]
I was hoping he dominated at the CFL level, because its a very pass oriented league but I guess not. I dont see the harm in signing him but I dont expect much.
I feel we're loaded at the WR position. In fact, I expect that we'll have to cut a guy or two that are worthy of a spot on the 53 man roster. So I would guess that they see Robinson as a developmental (PS) prospect rather than somebody who might have an impact this season. He does sound like he has some raw physical attributes.
Audio for this video is hilarious. "He kep thinking it was going to be an oot throw on a timing root..."
Sparano described Robinson, meanwhile, as “a big kid with size. He can flat-out go.” He called him a developmental player and somebody the team felt it wanted to take a chance on.
If this cat runs 4.29 he is staying with us. THey might drop him on PT, or have channing hurt him or something, or maybe higher him a s a water boy. But if he truly, and thats a big if, but if he ran a 4.29 he is staying with the team.
From what I've read, he dropped a pass today in practice and that's it from what I know. Anybody else hear anything on this guy other than that?
i've heard good things about him. The FO is making it harder and harder to pick the best 5 WR. i really think they need to keep 6 WR's but they say 5. we'll see.
I believe Randy Moss had greater speed when he first was in the league. Just a freak athlete Moss is. Deion probably ran along that speed.
Either that or he could be used on KR or PR. 4.29 speed, or just blazing speed, is something we have been lacking for a very long time in the return game. Our #1 WR should not be doing KR. I would rather save Bess for WR duties as well and not risk losing him to injury...especially if we have a guy that runs a 4.29. Williams is #2 on both positions. Meh. If it came down to Williams, who is undersized, and a WR that it tall & runs a 4.29....I am taking the bigger, faster guy.
Well, Coach said he won't keep anybody just for STs. And remember, speed doesn't always translate in to TDs in special teams, we got a guy by the name of Ginn, who is pretty darn fast himself.
I know. Just trying to find a spot for him on the team. I mean, look at the end of last year when we only dressed 3 WR's. It isn't like we HAVE to have 5 or 6, but it would be very nice if we did.
With his size and speed, if he's got soft hands and good route running skills, he could be a great addition. Doubt we'd see him this season, but who knows? This staff will put the best 5 (or 6?) WR's on the roster, which could eliminate even a guy like London or Cammy, though I doubt it. Seems this kid is more of a project, but who knows?
you just never know I remember more than one unknown enter training camp & never looking back (Gadsden) the guy obviously has the tools Competition is the Elixir of Success! Let them compete.
