We are on a nice curve relative to last year, We’re ahead, Fitz is playing better football and getting better as a Qb
Since the offseason I’ve said he deserved the start Based on last year and how he performed with that roster, I believed based on his play that he was an improving qb, and if This team were to be in contention, he will have the job until it’s not..
Looks to be playing out that way.
Team was dominant today on every level.
Flores is the real deal..
It’s a good feeling to know we are on schedule for the rebuild as well as all the assets we have next year..Phil Hutchings, Irishman and mlb1399 like this. -
If you truly want to know who was responsible for Miami’s 14-0 lead midway through the 1st quarter, you look to the defense.
The 49ers didn’t become 1 dimensional until the 2nd half, after Garappollo was benched and Beathard was forced to throw the ball.
Today’s win was a pure TEAM win. The defense set the offense up for success...and the offense set the defense up for success by scoring and making the defense’s job easierPhil Hutchings, Mexphin, Bumrush and 4 others like this. -
The 2 “old guys” on the team are Fitzpatrick at 37 and Van Noy at 29. This is a VERY young team that’s getting better and better every week.
You’re right...Flores is the real dealPhil Hutchings, Bumrush, mlb1399 and 1 other person like this. -
Now if the offense didn’t capitalize on the defense’s first 2 series, the defenses jobs would have been a lot more difficult -
"“Evaluating a few games before that, we haven’t taken enough shots down the field,” Fitzpatrick said afterward. “It was a big part of today’s game plan.”
The early success was nice. It helped.
“Having that feeling of confidence early and knowing we’re going to play well, that really helps out especially with some of the youth and inexperience we have on our team,” Fitzpatrick said."
...
"“Playing quarterback in this league is hard,” Fitzpatrick said afterward. “And after 16 years, I still can’t figure it out ... I couldn’t wait to get back out there on the field and the fact Flo has as much confidence in me as he does, that really helps me."
...
"The Miami defense came from all angles with previously unseen ferocity in collecting three sacks of Garoppolo in the first half.
“Different looks. That’s really all it was,” linebacker Jerome Baker said, explaining what the Dolphins did differently. “Guys just lined up in different spots ... Sometimes the coaches didn’t tell us, we just did it.”"
...
"The Dolphins filled Jackson’s vacancy by moving right tackle Jesse Davis to left tackle. And they gave second-round pick Robert Hunt his first career start, asking him to lock down the right tackle spot.
Hunt said he found out he was starting on Saturday.
“I didn’t feel any pressure,” he said. “I’ve been preparing, we’ve all been preparing and I was ready for the opportunity. It was a last minute kind of deal.”
Hunt said he “talked to God all day, every day” leading to this start. God apparently listened because Hunt was not in any way a problem."
In bold, above, maybe we get some insight to the team and Flores. He's looking to build stability and confidence. He's letting things settle and building them up. He's letting each player draw confidence from that, and to know he values them. Maybe this, more than anything else, helps us to understand what's going on with Tua. Flores is working with the whole team. He's building something. There's a bigger picture, and just sticking a rookie QB in the mix isn't a priority for Flores. He's developing every player and every part of this team. He's teaching them about themselves, and one another, and himself. And Tua is just one part of this team. Everyone else is learning, and guaranteed so is Tua. He'll get his chance.Last edited: Oct 11, 2020 -
I think the biggest news after the 49ers game is that we have a productive offense...and a productive defense...at the same freaking time for the first time in decades. Oh boy!

I wish I had as much faith in Flores as you guys do. I see a team that is outcoached and has no clear gameplan more weeks than not.
