According to pregame on NBC. How do you guys feel about this? Apparently they contacted NFL teams asking if they had evaluated Sam as a potential practice squad signing.
I'm not sure what they did is fair or correct. Basically they were trying to get a team to possibly cut another player they like better to make sure they didn't receive negative PR as a league.

That is a BS move on the part of the NFL, the league is driven by talent if he did not have enough talent he won't make a roster.

Watching Sam in the preseason, I am pretty sure that his ability warrants at least a practice squad spot. I would be disappointed to hear that the league had to intervene.

I thought he wound up on the Cowboys PS

Basically the league telling teams to get over the fact that the kid is gay. Probably also more than anything a PR move.

Wow... lol.... if only Cam Wake and James Harrison had the league contact teams for a practice squad invite when they were out of jobs early in their career. I'm sure Cam Wake prefers being in a practice squad than being a mortgage broker!
Jesus, if Sam is worth a damn, some team will sign him, let him prove himself in the CFL like Wake and Harrison did. -
I think it was putting their thumb on the scale in a self serving way. They look better if he's on a team. Look how the NBA looked. They didn't want that.
