He didn't play too much man in college and struggled at times when he did, but he did do very well in zone coverage (which UVA ran a lot of)....definitely not the best CB in the draft, but I like the pick.
I agree with this, but I have Kuechly in my top 6, and I don't think I'd have gotten him had I traded down much further.
Probably not, honestly. There were two players I would have moved up for if they fell and he was one of them.
I've drafted who I wanted over someone else's BPA every since I've been in this league....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Just like the million dollar "experts" who are wrong a high % of the time. I'm sure many thought my pick of Green was too early or a reach....but he's who I targeted and who zi was going to get. Even if I wasn't going to be able to trade out of 48 wich I did...I was ready to take him then.
Round 2 is over so here we go again. Value 38. Denver Broncos - Devon Still, DT, Penn State 41. Oakland Raiders - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin 45. Dallas Cowboys - Lamar Miller, RB, Miami 62. San Francisco 49ers - Amini Silatolu, OG, Midwestern State 63. New York Jets - Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson Reach 33. New York Giants - Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson 43. Seattle Seahawks - Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina 46. Pittsburgh Steelers - Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska 51. Houston Texans - Juron Crider, WR, Arizona 52. St. Louis Rams - Ladarius Green, TE, UL Lafayette We'll see come draft day if I'm right.
I watched a few games from his 2010 season and a few from his 2011 season and although they didn't run strictly man 2 man, it seemed like he was locking his men up everytime they played him in man. I think he has the skills to play both man and zone in the NFL.
Dennard is a reach? Hmmmmm......if anything I think he was undervalued in this draft. I guess time will tell, but I am EXTREMELY biased here. I think he was actually the better of the tandem of CBs that Nebraska has put out. I'll go out on a limb and say if Dennard was 6' tall he is a top 15 pick. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/alfonzo-dennard?id=2532832 Prince Amukamara http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/prince-amukamara?id=2495108 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think Dwayne Allen was probably a reach, but Dennard is an interesting case because of system fit. Then there's also the definition of reach. What do you call a reach? 10 pick difference? IMO no. 30 pick difference? Perhaps but again system fit.
I liked Prince coming out. Then again, I like a lot of their secondary players because of how well they're coached.
Well, I think the disputed part could be 1st round talent. I am, however, fairly certain he is, in fact, a QB though.
I can accept the fact that you don't view him as a first round talent. I just think the age thing is so overblown.
They were, until Sanders had to leave. And now USC has a fantastic secondary coach Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not a huge fan of Dennard. I feel like he is more Safety prospect. I don't think he is ever going to be a shutdown corner at best I think he is a nickel corner.
In a man scheme you might be right. Luckily Im playing zone where his instincts and hands are cash money dude.
Value 67. Minnesota Vikings - Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California 72. Indianapolis Colts - Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia 82. New York Giants - Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska 94. Jacksonville Jaguars - Brandon Brooks, OG, Miami (Ohio) C3C. Tennessee Titans - DeAngelo Peterson, TE, LSU Reach 65. San Diego Chargers - Keenan Robinson, LB, Texas 69. Atlanta Falcons - Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami 85. Cincinnati Bengals - Ryan Steed, CB, Furman 84. Green Bay Packers - Russel Wilson, QB, Wisconsin 96. New York Jets - Chris Rainey, RB/WR, Florida Okay so I had to limit the value list a bit. I really liked Schwartz and Crick picks. They are 2nd rounders for sure. Robinson went a bit too early for my taste everyone else I felt was taken a round or 2 too early.
I think theres a strong case for Crick being the best value pick in this entire draft. I had him on my board at 31 but the fact I had 10 DL on my roster already just made it seem idiotic to take an 11th. It was very difficult to continue passing on him. To me the guy is no question a top 40 pick and the fact that a 3-4 team didnt jump and grab him is crazy. Hes the best 3-4 end in the entire draft and I know some of these 3-4 teams need a pass rushing end.
I have watched Crick and Dennard the most, and I think that they were both extremely undervalued in this draft. I am genuinely curious as to why? I can understand Crick being a little lower in the draft due to the Pec injury, but in looking at testing numbers, he put up 28 reps on the bench, which isn't too shabby coming off the torn pec Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What I have found the last couple of years is that the more frequently talked about players tend to go higher. So players that are generally thought to be in play for Miami tend to go higher. Crick and Dennard really havent been mentioned much so they flew under the radar. Just like Osweiler. On the contrary people are familiar with players like Streeter and Rainey and I think at times it leads them to be overdrafted a bit (even though I love Streeter's size-speed combo)
I thought(no offense meant to anyone) people were just trying to outthink the room, but yours makes a lot more sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It crossed my mind, I just couldnt justify it. I needed receivers badly. I only had 4 entering the draft. Adding Marvin and Dwight Jones (not together obviously) were two of the receivers I targeted. I needed height at that position as well. If Alshon Jeffery had been there at 24 it would have been a coinflip to trade down or just take him or Mercilus. When Jeffery was taken at 21, 3 picks in front of me, I was confident I would get one of my other two targets (Mercilus and Gilmore) at 31
I know my Streeter pick was a reach, but with the right QB he will be pretty solid IMHO. Couple 1,000 yard seasons here and there, like a much taller Chris Chambers type.
It may have been a slight reach but size-speed combo players like that never last. I love Streeter's size-speed combo and no I am not Al Davis. If a WR runs routes well enough to support that combo then its a less risky pick imo.
