Greg C is a nearly perfect 3rd Wr/move the chains type of Wr, if a team has two gamebreakers and needs an underneath guy, he is their man. Crowder has his fans, I think if his play on the field matched his wisecracks he would be a perennial probowler..
I think this FO is among those Crowder fans. I know many here want two new ILBs, but IMO this FO doesn't. I think they want one guy and their top choice is probably Dansby. If that occurs and, IMO Miami is Dansby's most likely destination (that doesn't make it a lock or anything, just that we have a better chance than any other team), then I see our first round pick, being WR (Bryant is the only possibility and that becomes less likely if we trade for Boldin or another big body), NT or OLB. I really don't agree with Kiper that McClain is probable. I think he's a fall back if our first options fail and we don't think we can get Spikes later.
I don't see Brown being shopped. I think they really like him and short of getting some huge offer, I think he stays a Dolphin.
with this logic i have to agree the Dolphins won't get any huge offers for a part time running back like Ronnie Brown
they've been shopping brown since they got here.they just havent been offered what they want for an elite back who can't stay healthy a full season.if someone offers the right price for him then he's gone.noone is a lock on this team except the guys they have drafted and even still some would be shopped.
not staying healthy for a season is not the only reason they cant shop ronnie he has no second gear and other teams know this those to me are the two main reasons i DO NOT consider brown to be an elite back they would love to deal him but the comp would be low when weighed against his value to the Dolphins
Yeah, they've been shopping Brown since they got here...while designing the whole offense around him for a year and a half before he got hurt.
Kiper got the Jake Long pick right, as did everyone else who remotely pays attention to football in the known universe. Aside from that, I can assure that Tuna & Co are paying no attention, and very possibly laughing at his picks. I want to see Tuna and Kiper, head to head, on draft picks.
In the last few years, I agree. I believe this year is a bit different. I do not believe that we have the same confidence in Ronnie playing the entire season.
If we did sign Dansby, and then McClain was just hands down the obvious best choice on the board, I think we'd take him. That would mean two new ILB's for us, and lead to an interesting possibility. I've always wondered how Crowder would play on the Strongside at OLB. He's athletic enough, and big enough. It would all be about angles and his ability to get some push on the pocket. I'd much rather see us try him at SOLB than try to move a less athletic Merling or other DE type there. He might play better in space than he does inside. It's just a hunch I have, and he may not ever get the opportunity... but nonetheless it's something I've wondered about.
IIRC correctly CC was originally an OLB for us, although I don't remember what side. I think he would do fine. But I would only take McClain if he were the clear BPA and the BPAs at core positions were not available or not even close.
Right. I've said 100 times that if Eric Berry falls to 12 and we pass him, like 2-3 mocks have us doing, I'm going to completely flip out.
I'll be flipping out if he even gets TO us. If he does, and we pass, well, I don't want to think about it......
Kiper has Bryant going to Denver, so in a sense he does have him as a fallback. He even stated that if Bryant doesn't go before our pick, there's going to be a lot of conversation going on. I know you're not big on picking ILBs that high that aren't game changers. My impression of McClain is probably higher than yours and I think he'll be a good pick at 12, but much of that will depend on what happens with Dansby and how the front office views picks like LaFell, Thomas, etc. with our second pick.
There in lies the problem an offense designed around a player who has missed 16 games the past 3 seasons and who has ran for 2166 yards in 3 seasons Chris Johnson has run 160 yards less but only needed 1 season not 3 for those numbers. You design your offense around an injury prone player then you get the results you deserve
If Berry falls to us and we don't take him, I will lose a great deal of confidence in Jeff and Bill. That would be just NUTS to pass on Berry, but I see no way he falls to us at 12, no way.
Raf, obviously anything we say here about the draft is speculative as it pertains to FA, but my guess is that Bryant will be gone by #12. I see them, in the instance of acquiring Dansby going after a WR at #44 in the second and taking the NT or OLB in the first. If Bryant should fall (and I highly doubt it) then it's a no brainer. My guess is that they won't go crazy in FA....just a hunch and disappointing to me, but I just don't get the feeling they go hog wild. They seem to be content to get one bigger name FA and then several lesser moves. I don't have the sense that they, or many other teams for that matter, will be making trades or giving up picks via RFAs..it's just not their style. But we should have a clearer picture of where they might want to go in the first at least after the FA...
I would say there's about a 25% chance that Bryant makes it to #12. I think Denver is his most likely landing spot. There are of course other possibilities prior to our pick, but all of those teams also have other needs they may address. Even Denver could very easily fall in love with a QB like Sam Bradford for example. I expect that bigger name FA to be Dansby. I think they'll then go with a mid-level FA at NT. I also wouldn't be surprised if they traded for Boldin or put offers in on a RFA WR. I think they realize they need that big target to be able to compete. But I don't want any of the WRs at #44. We need a stud. If we miss out on Bryant or on a stud WR in FA then I'd rather take a flyer on late round big body WR than on the potential 2nd round types. IMO this is an incredibly weak WR class after Bryant.
We agree again. I want a WR that I would trade Ginn or Hartline for in a heat beat, without thinking. Dez and Boldin are the only two available who come to mind.
sorry i have to laugh about trading Hartline he was our best WR you think that helps us move up to get Bryant? or give up a rook that made big plays for Boldin? makes no sense really
