Finally, some actual effort being given to mocking a selection for the Dolphins.

Not sure how much credibility I can give to a mock that has Locker in the top 10. That being said, supposedly there are some teams that have him ranked that high and there was rumors the Skins were interested in taking him last year. We'll see what happens, but I just can't see how someone takes him that high.

Personally, I don't think there will be that kind of a run on QB's to start the draft (four in the first fifteen picks). Even though you could argue many of the top 10-15 teams need a QB. Nonetheless, I think guys like Locker and Ponder will probably go in the late first/early second round.

    JMHO.

How does over-drafting a 2nd round QB in the 1st round differ from "swinging and missing on a 2nd round QB"? lol.

Why would the Patsies want to take Reed at 17 when they can get him at 28 instead? What team is taking him in between there?

    Because they’re apparently shopping #28.

gotchya. that would make sense then.

Any of you guys ever get the impression that NE gets so obsessed with trading back that they shoot themselves in the foot?

Then why not shop the 17th for better real estate and take Reed at 28 for a discounted price?

I'll take a shot at that...maybe because it's easier to move the #28 pick (i.e., more teams wanting to trade up into the bottom of the first round than the middle of the first round). Otherwise, IDK.

Nope. They did it last year and ended up with Devin McCourty, Taylor Price (who will be good) and Aaron Hernandez with the picks they received in trades. That's pretty damn good.

They may not be able to get him at 28. On the flip side, they could end up getting him at 33.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I don't think there is any magic around the 2nd round that dooms QBs. Second round QBs don't do as well b/c they're lower tier talents. Taking that same lower tier talent in a different round doesn't change anything other than what you're paying them.

Basically. It's the equivalent of having a lucky rabbits foot.

Agree on that....... and Price too.

Year before it cost them Clay Matthews, right?

Better wording would've been if I said that "they could shoot themselves in the foot", meaning I hope it happens. lol.

I just didn't seen anyone from 18-26 who would be in the market for him based on needs, defensive scheme, etc...... unless I'm missing someone.

I think they are pretty happy with what they got.

    Superstition? lol.

In my eyes, the difference between Josh Freeman and these guys is tremendous. I don't see how you can look at a QB who's had 3 surgeries in 2 years and put him remotely in the same class as Josh (or even Flacco).

I like Ponder, I see him as a Trent Edwards level QB. That's not bad, but I'm not in favor of using the 15th overall on Trent Edwards.
