For the annual Lions thanksgiving day game....nothing too serious I can think of a few reasons.
1. Drama surrounding Miami last year
2. We have been no stranger to Turkey Day games
3. We play in London also next year
4. Buffalo has a decent shot at being a better football team

This just means our Thursday game will be an exclusive one. I don't prefer my team play on Thursday at all... But damn I had some fun On Halloween last year.

Miami playing in London this year probably means no dice for the Thanksgiving game.

Im happy about it. One fewer screwy week. And I dont have to fight with my wife about watching football from 1-4 instead of going to her mom's house.

Im curious how we got another London game everyone else has had one too.

I think it's just a matter of us always getting the nod on Turkey Day so they're giving Buffalo their chance.Fin-Omenal likes this. -

Good. The less "short week" games the better.

I'm sure it also has something to do with us being on the East Coast. A slightly easier trip perhaps. -
Also makes sense the Buffalo isn't that far from Detroit. It's a pretty quick drive if you do it through Canada.

Do we know if the London game takes away one of our home games ?

The London game screws Oakland more than us.
Was hoping for Turkey day but we do seem to get it quite a bit.

But, since my wife is a Dolphins fan as well (She Did find a Larry Csonka jersey for my 60th Birthday!) she makes sure that if I'm not there the DVR is set up. I couldn't imagine being on the West Coast and trying to get through a service when I knew the 'Phins were on... (well, not really, but you know what I mean!)
Now, as far as Maynard goes..... I ain't goin' there, bubba! -
It is going to happen, and it doesn't mean it is a slap in the face to Miami . . . in fact, quite the opposite.
The new TNF package on CBS is a game changer for the TV landscape. SBJ leaked out a couple of days ago that the package will be almost on par with the SNF NBC games, and that there will be a "stark difference" between the CBS games early and the NFLN games late. Every team is required to play on Thursday at least once and there are 36 total slots from week 1 to week 16 (no Thursday game week 17). By putting the Bills on Thanksgiving, they satisfy the Buffalo requirement. They no longer have to use Buffalo for any other Thursday games, that frees up Miami to likely be on the CBS end of the TNF split. Plus, it should be noted that during the Cowboys AFC turn last year, they were scheduled with the Raiders and not the much more attractive Broncos. I'm not saying Miami is much more attractive than Buffalo, but they do have a higher "q" rating. Finally, Miami's game in London did not preclude them from being on Thanksgiving.
Also, FIRST OFFICiAL LEAK OF THE YEAR - Green Bay @ Buffalo for a MNF game. Not a shock considering the death of Ralph Wilson. You all know I'm kind of a schedule nut, so my guess is that this will be a week 2 game and home opener for Buffalo and contain some sort of special ceremony for Wilson. Just an educated guess though, no sources on this one. http://msn.foxsports.com/wisconsin/...nday-night-in-2014-040814?cq_ck=1396985834652
Finally, the preseason schedule will be released at 2:30 today. If you want to know how Miami will fare with primetime games during the season, keep an eye out for whether or not they get a national game during the preseason. There are 16 or so slots for 14 or 15 teams in national TV preseason games (spread among NBC, Fox prime, Fox Sunday afternoon, ESPN Thursdays and Mondays, and the CBS two-fer week 3 on Thursday and Friday). My gut says Miami gets an ESPN slot, but I've been wrong before. If Miami doesn't get any, it doesn't bode well for how the NFL sees them and will likely sign we are looking at minimal prime appearances with the regular sched comes out (1 MNF instead of 2, maybe even NFLN instead of CBS for TNF).Rocky Raccoon likes this.
