Not necessarily. It means that locking the players out will be tougher but not impossible, and it means the now-former NFLPA can file an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL. That lawsuit will drag out as long as it takes.
As of this moment, don’t count on anything except the NFL draft.

I guess I couldn't count on football, however my understanding was that is near impossible to lock out the players. The only back up the NFL had to still be able to lock out the players it to declare the decertification a sham. However there is rules in the old CBA to make that really difficult.

When is enough money enough...I mean when your talking Billions of dollars why are they conflicting over pennies. This is all just a bunch of crap and just highlights one of the biggest things wrong with this country.

The problem that directly led to decertification is that DeMaurice Smith refused to back off his demand to see 10 years of financial statements. Previous CBAs didn’t need that level of disclosure to get a deal done.
Basically, the hotshot new head honcho wanted to prove his toughness and threw the sport under the bus.

I have been following this process for a little bit. Closing operations never came up as an option

If the NFL just closed down for business, what does that mean for contracts that are currently in play? Does that mean that Peyton Manning could sign with another team?

I think so. Seriously, this whole saga is silly. Im rooting for the owners because i hate unions. And i like the underdog. Love the grandstanding by de smith. 10 yrs of audited financials in less than 15 mins. U had two years to request this. They didnt give it to them then why would they do it now? Itll go to court and be a huge waste of money. Lawyers will be happy though.

It seems like throwing money away. With decertification they can put in their own rules. So they can play the season AND win.

The NFL was opposed to decertification because they don’t want to deal with the antitrust lawsuit. But they clearly preferred taking their chances in court rather than disclosing their finances.

I just can't imagine any judge holding a company (the NFL) to showing it's books to it's employees (NFL players)...that just doesn't happen in any business....
