Ray Guy, first-round pick in 1973
I'm not sure this is a steal... sure he may have been a great punter, I'm just not sure 1st rounder + punter = steal...:lol:late again and alen1 like this. -
I've heard alot of arguements being made about why this guy isn't in the hall of fame too.

I agree. You look at these achievements and think " WTH"
* 7x Pro Bowl selection (1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980)
* 9x All-Pro selection (1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981)
* 3x Super Bowl champion (XI, XV, XVIII)
* NFL's 75th Anniversary Team
* NFL 1970s All-Decade Team
* Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame
* Georgia Sports Hall of Fame
Joe Horrigan, the historian of the Pro Football Hall of Fame once said: "He's the first punter you could look at and say: 'He won games.'" At the 1976 Pro Bowl, Ray Guy became the first punter to hit the Louisiana Superdome video screen. Ray Guy was known for punts with a high hang time, he once punted the ball with so much hangtime the opponents pulled the ball and had it tested for helium. The hangtime statistic was also instituted in the NFL during his time, probably because of him

nice job. his resume clearly indicates he belongs in the hall at canton thats for sure.
got to love that... they actually had the balls tested for helium :sidelol: oh well, hopefully it happens soon for him. I think he belongs.alen1 likes this. -
When five QBs were taken ahead of him, when he was expected to go anywhere from 15-20 picks earlier, and when he set the records that Marino did.alen1 likes this.

No Zach Thomas? He was the biggest steal since the Brink's robbery.
charlestonphan and Silverphin like this. -

simple; when he becomes the greatest passer in NFL history and several other QB's were taken before him.

A certain 17th round pick who was the winning QB in the first two SBs might qualify as a draft steal. You know I'm just saying that Bart Starr's 5 NFL championships despite being drafted 11 rounds later than Tom Brady could, just, be worthy of consideration.
Johnny Unitas was a highly touted 9th round pick, but I don't think he qualifies as a draft steal because he was cut by his first team.
