I look forward to watching him play. Putting on 18 pounds and maintaining his speed and agility... I am liking it very much.

 

The battle between he and Sheets should be a good one.

 

Being a native Tucsonan, I hope Grigsby not only makes the team but excels on all levels! Dude can certainly break a few ankles, seen it time and time again in person. If he is as fast as he was in college and now weighs in at 208.......DAMN! Grigsby could really help us out

 

I don't think it'll be a battle at all. I think he'll win it hands down.

 

When the Dolphins signed Nic Grigsby I pointed to him as exactly the kind of prospect that makes a potential Reggie Bush trade/signing look silly. I stand by that.

 

I hope it works out the way you foretold, I really do. If that happens then we are in a good position at that position. I don't recall the cost of Bush but, if it's not all that much then we can part ways with him if Grigsby turns out to be the better option.

 

I could see where one may see it as duplication but I think that opinion would be wrong. Hes a more natural between the tackles runner then Bush is and at 206 I think he could eventually become and everydown back. he reminds me a lot of a guy we were chasing in FA, Ahmad Bradshaw.

Yeah it should, the interesting thing to me is which one can block better being the deciding factor.

I give the edge to Sheets simply because he has been around a bit longer and really understands what is at stake, Grigsby is making hay right now, but then again this is just shell practices at most.

If keeping Bush fresh with only 10 plays a game and bringing in Grigsby or 5-6 plays to spell Daniel Thomas, then no way it's a silly trade. We are building the giants model.

 

You weren't kidding. After a few initial searches(video searches) on the more popular search engines all I could find was individual game footage(aside from the one you posted or others just like it), but none of them were centered around Nic. I'll try some others tomorrow and also try to dig into some sites that came up that might have something hidden in them that the crawlers might not have caught.

 

Grigsby plays far beyond his size and I wouldn't be suprised to see him become more of an every down back. he does well in the pass game and is definitely a more natural between tackle RB than Bush has and ever will be

 

One of the individual game videos I came across in my search did have a couple plays that showed his between the tackles running. The sample size is tiny though. If you have any footage with a large sample size I and Sceeto would much appreciate it.

 

Grigsby was my favorite late round prospect to where I was hoping we'd take him in the 6th just in case.
Then we didn't draft him at all and I was sad.
Now I'm happy again.

 

I know, it's hard to find much game footage of him.....he's always been a under appreciated back. Doesn't help that he played for UofA. Outside of USC, PAC 10 players don't get much love. Take for instance Nick Foles....dude is easily a top 10 QB prospect and never gets much credit. He's big and produces good #'s but still until recently fly's below the radar. Even Rob Gronkowski never got much mention even though everyone knew he was an elite TE. No love for the UofA....just BS

 

I might be biased b/c I'm high on Grigsby, but I completely agree.
Sheets has some speed, but he doesn't have quite the electricity that Grigsby has.

I get the impression that Sheets's is that he's more of an everydown type back in college who's fast but wont do much in the NFL b/c he's not fit for an every down role. Grigsby on the other hand, I see as an explosive 3rd down COP type back who'll get to be utilized as such, if that all makes sense.

 

Yes but Grigsby will run inside, hes more explosive, faster and tougher to bring down. Bush has better hands but is a less instinctive runner imo

 

That vid Sceeto posted makes it look like that's the case.

 

I'm not sure if he has the internal body structure (despite the added weight) to handle the stress of being an every down back. IMO the 208 pounds ensures his durability as a COP back, where as his previous weight might've prevented from even that type of role.

 

With Lex acting as the designated bowling ball. I'm not disappointed with this. It could be better, but I'm not disappointed.

 

From what I've read it seems that Grigsby had some fumbling problems at Arizona. Was benched for it.

 

I don't think it looks silly; I think it looks smart. If we're looking to utilize COP backs, then I think it's wise to have a somewhat similar backup to maintain continuity..... and it's not like Grigsby is costing us a lot.
If Grigsby were to replace Bush, then who would you want to replace Grigsby?

I haven't done the math, but it seems like we have Bush, Thomas, and Grigsby for about what Carolina paid for DeAngelo. I can live with that.

 

which doesn't bother me as much since he wont be asked to carry the load or take a pounding like he was at Zona IIRC.

If we can run plays devised to get him the ball in space, I think we'll be ok, especially with the extra weight/strength he added in the offseason.

 

Good thing he'll only be acting as the designated bowling ball. I'd hate to see him trying.

 

Well keep in mind TP these guys are going to be running behind a mammoth Oline, one that is more suited to run blocking then pass blocking.

His numbers definitely translate on the field. If we can execute plays to get him the ball in space (like Detroit killed us with) he can be dangerous IMO.

 

Merely thinking about the 3 major Oline moves:

-Carey to RG
-Pouncey at C
-Colombo the presumptive RT with Murtha and Garner trying to knock him off.

The Oline's Right Side has gotten huge, and probably less athletic then it had been, but more then capable of mauling opponents, last yr the Oline was more finesse and decent at pass blocking, not as solid at run blocking.

 

For a big guy, Lex can't take a hit.

There's no way you could have advocated trading Bess at one point, or replacing Hartline, but want Lex Hilliard to be a major part of this offense.

 

Grigsby was my favorite signing among the UDFAs. I have COP back as one of those positions where you can find gems.
