Saw saw on their ticker that Nike has signed that POS to a 4 year deal. I for one will never buy or wear another Nike logo again. This sucks because Nike is replacing Rebook soon. Guess I won't be buying any Dolphins hats, T-shirts, ect in the future.
Mike Vick can burn in Hell!

That's the ticket. Follow the money, Nike!

Honestly they should pick a new young star with a clean slate for the kids to idealize.

Well, have to say Vick is a good example of why Vince Young will play Qb somewhere this season. As SteveCo can attest 2 yrs ago such a topic would be pages long with all manner of venting and accusations pointed at Vick, fast forward to today and a big "Eh".
Fans react emotionally, once the emotion wears down they lose interest, meanwhile the talent wins the day, as long as Vick won games the argument ceases. -

If Mike Vick is reformed (which all signs point to), then signing him would be a great idea.

Mike Vick has made comments in the past year that he has not changed. Yes Gish, this is personal. After thinking about it, I think it was a mistake for me to start this thread. If someone else would have started one, I would have made a comment and been done with it.
I can't really say what I hope happens to him, I'd get in trouble with the mods.Fin D likes this. -
As someone who owns a dog that was previously kidnapped, used in fighting and ultimately discarded/left for dead, I can forgive him.SICK, Topdawg13 and steveincolorado like this. -
I've lost Max and Pudy due to old age, but I now have Spook and Storme. They mean everything to me. If I had to make a choice to save one of them or a human, it's not even close, my dogs come first.
I know that Vick paid his dues and it's common that people in this country are given second and even third chances, but I just can't.Fin D likes this. -

I don't really care if Nike or the Eagles or whoever signs him but I'm glad he's not a Phin. I don't think someone that murders animals really reforms, I think he got caught lost everything and regrets losing everything but I don't think he's a good guy or someone I want to see my kid wearing his jersey. He served his time, I hope he stays out of trouble and is positive for society but its hard to look at what he did and think he's really a good person, kind of hard to be positive about him for me personally. Its not a matter of forgiveness, its just a matter of me really believing him, I don't. Good for Nike and him, I wish them the best but I wouldn't buy anything Nike or Vick.

Allow me to reiterate, for "fans" it all comes down to performance, and GM's and Coaches know it, the rest of it is just noise.
If Vick was terrible the sort of absolution he has received to this point would never happen. -
Vick didn't make a mistake. He habitually tortured dogs to their death and that isn't including the actual dog fighting. If this were just about the dog fighting, you might have a point since dog fighting can be a cultural thing. He with forethought and malice devised new and horrible ways to kill dogs, not for any other reason then getting personal enjoyment out of watching them suffer in agony until their last breath. If that piece of **** couldn't throw a football, all of you would be talking about the favorable odds of him becoming a serial killer. Nothing he went through changed him on a fundamental level. In fact, he's better off now than before he got caught in many ways. **** Nike. Two Tacos and steveincolorado like this. -
I can't and won't let the hate go. He made a comment awhile back.......a lady had one if his dogs and asked if he would like to see it..... Vick turned to his body gaurd and said, "I don't care about that dog". He is a POS person. I won't hold it against anyone that wants to see him succeed, but I will never forgive him.

And again, there's a huge difference between being cold hearted and deriving pleasure from torturing something. Not too mention following your logic, if a serial rapist had a tough life, they deserve to be treated with respect. There's a difference between excuses and reasons.steveincolorado likes this. -
It's over. He's paid the price. There are those that feel like Mike Vick should trade his life for the animals'. There are those that feel he paid too much. Whichever side of the spectrum you fall into, its not likely to change anything. Short of Mike Vick opening a vein on ESPN the Ocho....he will always have those that don't support his reform and those have condemned him to a life sentence in the court of public opinion. Regardless of what side of the debate one person is on is irrelevant....he has paid his price legally.....spiritually.....and is trying socially. As a man that is all he can do. And its likely the case that Mike Vick no longer gives a crap how you, me, or anyone else feels because he's doing what he can do turn his life around. As fellow men (and ladies) we should all understand that in the end thats all you can really do....

Question is, what is proof for you that he changed? waiting his whole life to see if he does it again?
Or simply stated that he feels compassion for these animals? Maybe thats your problem with letting it go. -

The guy may have paid his dues by law, but that doesn't mean everything is fine and dandy. Money has no bearing on this. My understanding is that by court ordered, he has to pay a big chunk to the Humane Society. Again, that doesn't mean everything is okay.
I cant sit here and say Vick, your a good person now and give the guy a hug. I'd rather run over his face with a tank. What he did is not just plain wrong, but insane. Some things you just can't forgive.
If the POS punkass is trying to make things right, then good for him, but it will never, ever change my thoughts about him or what he did. -

I still believe that Vick is more sorry that he got caught rather than what he did.
-
Yeah I really don't buy the he paid his time argument. People say that because Vick can ball, if he was some dude down the street asking you for work half of you would feel un comfortable around him just because he was locked up. Then when you find out his crime, forget about it.

As for redemption, well I disagree. He purposely put himself in the spotlight. He then purposely broke the law. He then purposely tried to publicly convince America he was a changed man. I did none of that too him. He did it all on his own. He asked me and the rest of us to forgive him and I don't.
Also, I've rescued, fostered, and own abused dogs. I know first hand the damage that is done. It takes a special kind of scumbag to hit your wife in a fit of rage, but it takes a special kind of evil to take a dog you've deemed worthless and electrocute it to its death for the sheer pleasure of it. If its wrong of me to judge someone by their actions, then where's the line? Is it really better that we overlook someone's remorseless actions, simply because they do something well, like throw a football?steveincolorado likes this. -

Here is the problem with how some of you are thinking imo. Show me someone that isnt disgusted by his acts? I highly doubt you will find one, on this board at least. However, for his disgusting acts, he has said he was sorry and shown remorse. He had millions of dollars stripped for him, he was in prison for 2 years for what he did, and that is that. Just because some of you dont believe he is remorseful or sorry doesnt mean your correct. no one knows, which is why some of us choose to let him live on, because hes paid for his wrong doings. -
