I think the jury is out on Philbin no matter if we win the final two and lose the final two. I wouldn't mind bringing him back. My preference would to be hiring a new GM
The reality is that the jury is out on almost every NFL coach, every year. Some owners are more tolerant of a coach who doesn't have success quickly, but most owners expect the head coach to develop a winning team rather quickly. That is why the turnover rate for NFL head coaches is so high.
Coaches who have led their teams to SB wins are often given more time to turn it around against if their teams go through a losing period in the following years, but even these coaches are always being judged by fans and ownership and eventually will be fired if their teams don't turn it around and start making the playoffs again within a few years.
So to state that the jury is still out on Philbin, merely states what is true for the vast majority of coaches in the NFL and even at the college level. It is all about winning in the NFL and if your team isn't winning more games than they are losing, you won't be a head coach in the NFL for very long.
