the Orca-5
the pod that can contend in 2014  one acquisition & three easy re-signs... uncomplicated, very doable & SuperBowl ready
LT-Mckinney
LG-MikePouncey
C-MaurkicePouncey
RG-Incognito
RT-Clabo
we already have a stable full of excellent prospects & back-ups... why re-event the wheel?

the only thing I would change besides acquiring Maurkice is the offensive line coach. maybe, Sparano has had enough of the Raider Adventure & would like to return to the level of his competency, coaching the offensive line. seriously, we need an experienced, proven coach for the offensive line. they are out there & can be had...
LG/LT _ Dallas Thomas
RG/LG _ Danny Watkins
Utility _ Nate Garner
RG/C _ Sam Brenner

between Jon Jon & Turner, the entire offensive line sucked... including Cogs. having said that, Maurkice is doable & would fit like a glove. he's worth the draft choice.
about Incognito, he plays best @ RG not left. Mike Pouncey is the natural (pulling) LG & his brother the better center. don't see how you could go wrong with a Pro-Bowl offensive line, everyone playing in position & to their strength. it all begins in the trenches. the only question: do you want to win the SuperBowl in 2014? -
don't we need a defensive end and linebacker and maybe a runningback ?
-
I honestly don't think we need very much, just a revision in the offensive line which is very much within our grasp outside the draft.
depth & talent are in abundance on this roster.
what we need is experience, consistency & coaching up the considerable talent we possess.
personally, I'd get the best talent available at any position as it fell to us in the draft.
what we really need is to win a SuperBowl as soon as possible -

How about we get Marc Colombo and clone him 4 times
-
curious how Brenner plays out. maybe he ends up deserving a spot on your 2014 starting list.
-
Okay... first of all, we don't even know if Clabo will be in his 2012 form, if we re-sign (though, granted, he's been blocking pretty well lately). Second of all, as much as I love the fact that McKinnie's on our team.... he's up there in years. We need to draft/sign quality young O-linemen. So much in fact that it should be a priority in free agency and/or the draft.

We cant ignore LT, it cant be done. Lets get a sane one this time.

I think we need to draft a tackle and running back high in next years draft, just my opinion. We have very little depth or talent at the tackle position or rb position.

Yeah, I have little faith in the O-line...For three years in a row the line has taken until the midway point of the season to start playing well. For three years in a row John Jerry has gone from scapegoat to "well he's ok lets keep him".
We need a LT and we need a guy that can push Jerry in camp if he's not ready. I know the line is playing well now and thank god for that but some of us have really short memories I guess. -
Yeah. Considering that this GM you support has wasted a 2nd round pick on Jon Martin, a 3rd round pick on John Jerry, and a 3rd round pick on Dallas Thomas, it is probably best that we not allow him to waste anymore draft picks on offensive linemen.
-
Incognito will probably never wear an NFL uniform again. I really don't care much about the interaction between him and Martin, but the golf incident is disgusting. I'd be ashamed if he wore our uniform.
The line is playing pretty well now, but I have my doubts that they can repeat this performance on a regular basis. Brenner deserves a shot to start tho next season/bigbry, Mainge and Frumundah Finnatic like this. -

we need some fresh bodies on the Oline for the tackle and RG position and some competition for LG, i think if brenner does not mess these last 2 games up, he deserves a chance to compete for the starting LG spot at camp, do you hope that dallas thomas or danny watkins emerge though ?

i don't think he can mess it up enough in the PO's to not give him a shot at training camp to win this LG job -
I have very little hope that Thomas and Watkins are NFL quality players, much less someone they can build the line around.

On the OP, horrible idea. Drafting offensive lineman is not a "waste", unless the GM that everyone loves all of a sudden is doing it.
LT: I'd resign McKinnie. Sure, it's a stop gap. Unless a starting quality LT falls into our laps at the draft.
LG: Move Mike Pouncey here, he'd be the best guard in the league.
C: Sign Alex Mack from Cleveland. He's pretty good and a veteran.
RG: Draft the best guard available, even if it's in the first round. Find a guy, plug him ion next to the veteran Mack.
RT: I'd keep Tyson Clabo, who has played pretty good since his resurrection. That said, I'd use a draft pick on someone to develop, in case he tanks again.
I'd hang on to Brenner, he's cheap and young. Dallas Thomas will be around because of where he was drafted, I think he has no hope. Sign a veteran multi-positional lineman for depth. Draft at least one late round guard to push Thomas. -
Saying that drafting offensive linemen is a waste is like putting up a building and saying that spending money on the foundation is a waste. Gotta drive them pilings in.
Except for Pouncey, nobody presently on this offensive line is going to take us to the promised land. What we are seeing, I think, is that two festering sores were excised from the left side, the new guys listened up, and everyone started to play better together. That doesn't mean that they're going to become Kooch, Langer and Little.
We have two older guys on the decline at the tackles, whose best football is behind them. They may be serviceable for another year while the reinforcements come in. There's a reason why Brenner was on the practice squad and Garner hasn't become a starter. With the experience they're getting, they'll be good depth. We need to acquire some linemen; guards first, then eventually tackles. Ignore that need, and we won't take the next step up. -

Maybe we should take a page from Detroit and draft tightends and wrs until we get us a big time wr .

Personally I have my doubts that Thomas or Watkins will ever be starters on the offensive line for the Dolphins. Watkins was a bust with the Eagles and Thomas isn't even as good as Brenner, who was signed as an undrafted free agent. I have no problem with Garner sticking around as a backup on the OL.
I'm not sure the Steelers won't franchise Pouncey in an attempt to prevent him from becoming a free agent. If they do, the Dolphins will need to draft or sign in free agency, a RT, RG, and a LG in an attempt to upgrade this OL. Hopefully they can get at least one more year out of McKinney at the LT position before they have to upgrade this position also. I think Brenner will be a solid backup for the team, but hopefully they can find a new starter for his position in the off season.
I put the chances of Sparano coming back to be the offensive line coach of the Dolphins at 0%. I don't think he and Ross get along very well. I just don't see Philbin wanting to hire an assistant with the history Sparano has with the Dolphins. Besides, I don't think Sparano is really an upgrade as an offensive line coach.
