Who is the best Nose Tackle in the draft, Dan Williams or the Cody guy from Alabama? Would it make since drafting one of them at 12 for real? Maybe we trade down and take Shaq in a later round? Quick edit: The first two questions are serious...the Shaq thing was just to add length to the post.
Cody is just an unbelievable fat slob. No thanks on him. I know he's showing he can lose the weight but that doesn't mean the weights not coming back. It just means he knows he's gotta show he can lose it in order to get paid.
Have to agree on Cody. We already have a NT that has weight issues, we don't need two. I like Williams better at this point, maybe even Thomas as a later choice.
Not a big fan of the weight issues myself but just because they both have weight issues doesn't mean they are equal in every other way If he's still avail in the 2nd I would grab him. [Disclaimer] It would also depend on who else is available as well.
This will probably be Soliaii's make or break year. If he proves his worth then we have a young NT, if he doesn't then we're up the creek. If Ferguson comes back for one more year then they have one more year to acclimate Soliaii and find a backup or future starter. Of course if Ferguson doesn't come back and Soliaii doesn't prove to be the answer then we should have drafted someone who could start sooner than later. It just adds to the drama and excitement of the draft, will we or wont we and who and where.
Cody reminds me of Gilbert Brown, he's going to be very disruptive when he's on the field. But he can't sustain that because of weight issues, and he also isn't going to offer anything as far as pass rush..I would take him in the 2nd but that type of player isn't worth 12.
I say take Shaq at 12. Naw seriously I would take Williams because he has impressed me the most at the combine and the Senior Bowl.
Cody is a non starter. Ireland's guys prefer NT prospects who can play DE if they bust at NT. They never even looked at 335 lb Ron Brace last year, I doubt they'll look at 500 lb Cody either. Theyre history has been to draft 300-315 lb guys and bulk them up if necessary. Getting a guy who's overweght and trying to slim him down is a major hassle (see Solai, Paul).
I really want a NT through the draft or FA, and with all the FA guys being tied up I hope we get one through the draft. I just hope it is with a 3rd or later pick.
Hey! if Cody slides down the board I'm willing to take a look at him again. I just don't think he's my 1st choice anymore.
I still like Jared Odrick. The gurus have talked him up in the past. Hopefully could be our Jay Ratliff or at the very least another Randy Starks.
